Location
The Learning Center is located on the 4th floor of the James V. Brown Library at 19 East Fourth Street in Williamsport. There is a metered parking lot behind the Library that always has plenty of empty spaces.
Cost
The cost for the 6-week session of classes is $25.
You must be a National SeniorNet member.
This $25 class charge goes to the local SeniorNet. It helps to defray the cost of computers, printing manuals, advertising, postage, and other SeniorNet operating expenses.
SeniorNet Membership Fees -- which go to National SeniorNet -- are as follows: 1 year = $40 per person, 2 years = $60 per person , 3 years = $85 per person.
Features
Each class is instructed by a volunteer instructor who is assisted by 1-2 coaches. This ensures that each student receives personalized attention.
Each student has their own computer station at which to work during class. Students can also use the lab during open lab hours to practice between classes.
In addition, each student receives a step-by-step work-along manual which is theirs to keep, plus a diskette with practice exercises.
"What separates SeniorNet from other basic computer courses is its focus on how older adults learn", according to Art Kline, chair of the local Learning Center Council. "Classes are stimulating, fun, and volunteer teachers and coaches make sure every student gets the individual attention they need."
