I recently attended the SVGRS's (Susquehanna Valley Garden Railroad Society) annual picnic down in Lancaster County, held on Sat 9/15/07.

This group has the most advanced "picnic table service" of any group I have so far encountered. As the first attached photo shows, they have largescale rail service right to your plate.
Thus when you need more pototo chips or pickles, there's no more having to interrupt your conversation, struggle up out of your chair while jostling your neighbors, and then having to hike across the room, and search around for the potato chips. Instead, the train delivers that stuff right to your plate !

This second photo shows the whole room.

Full Size: These two photos, plus several others taken inside the same room, are posted FULL-size in the
( http://www.track2.com/temp/070915.svgrs.picnic/ ) Note the 2 photos that have the suffixes "-500.jpg" and "-640.jpg" are the smaller versions (500 & 640 pixels respectively) that I used for this email.
It did not occur to me until after the event (when it always does), that it would have been nice to get a photo of the outside of the building, and also the largescale pulling contest (Duh!).
Video: I also managed to "capture" about 14 of the members on video, giving a short introduction consisting of their names, where they're from, and any special interests. This footage is raw material for a "Meet the SVGRS members" video. I hope to get that footage edited one of these years, if I don't die of old age first.
