SUBJECT: Free "eBay Profits Made Easy" Workshops in Wiliamsport
If you get the Williamsport Sun-Gazette newspaper, you may have noticed these huge ads for eBay workshops. The first question that came to my mind, is "if the workshop is free", how are they paying for these huge ads, plus the conference rooms, plus the presenters' travel expenses?
I went to the 11/14 Wednesday evening seminar at Best Western on the Golden Strip. It was very interesting, and well-worth the time. Even though I am currently not interested in running an eBay-type business, the information about" web-marketing" was very interesting, and also applicable to my own ventures into web page building.
If you have any interest at all in eBay, I think you would probably find this free 2-hour seminar to be worthwhile.
The main orientation of their presentation is selling on eBay as a regular business, not the stuff in your attic. What I THINK they are actually marketing themselves, is a commercial business website hosting and consulting service, that interfaces with eBay and also functions "stand-alone", plus maybe a business cell-phone text-messaging marketing service. Note that this presentation was NOT in any way a "high pressure" sales presentation.
ALL DAY SEMINARS:
These 2-hour seminars are an introduction for an all-day seminar next week at Holiday Inn downtown. They go into more details at the all-day seminar. The all-day seminar is supposedly priced at $195, but they allow you to register for it for $20, and I signed up for that.
ABOUT ADVISOR BUILDER:
The presenter's name was I believe Duane Free. He was an EXCELLENT speaker. The company is Advisor Builders, with headquarters in Salt Lake City. ( AdvisorBuilder.com is I THINK their website; I'm not 100% sure. )
For whatever reason, this company seems somewhat "cagey" about their "identity". The newspaper ad has no company name or phone number on it. My registration receipt for the all-day seminar, also has no company name or phone number on it. Their apparent website has no contact phone number, or city of doing business, or any way to really contact them. And I could not find any "About Us" page.
I was unable to find anything about them on Google by doing a Google search on "advisor builder salt lake city utah"
ABOUT THE BEST WESTERN FACILITIES: ("PISS-POOR")
PRESENTATION TIMES:
This Best Western presentation room was one of the WORST presentation rooms I have ever experienced. There was apparently some sort of a religious revival meeting taking place in the next room -- with all kinds of loud music and yelling going on, and coming into our room. Our speaker had to try to talk, in spite of all this next-door disruption.
This religious group supposedly meets there every week. So you would think Best Western management would have enough common sense to NOT rent the adjoining room for a business-speaking presentation. Apparently not !
Note the Thursday presentations are at Holiday Inn; hopefully better facilities.
* The 2-hour seminars are repeated 3 times on Thursday 11/15: at 9 am, 1 pm, and 7 pm at the Holiday Inn at 100 Pine Street (next to the intersection of the I-180 beltway and Rt 15 Market St bridge). Note that there's no advance registration. You just show up.
* The all-day seminar is Tues Nov 20th from 9 am to 5:30 pm at the same Holiday Inn.
* Whether you can attend the all-day seminar without attending the 2-hour workshop, I don't know. They did say that they could not guarantee admission to the all-day event if you had not pre-registered (due to possible space limitations).
YOUR IMPRESSIONS??:
If any of you attend any of these presentations, I would be most interested to hear your impressions.
