To register

Call the Library at 326-0536, and ask the desk attendant to put your name and phone number on the "SeniorNet Callback List".

A registration volunteer will call you back.

• If you just have questions, you can also leave your number for the registration volunteer.
• Pre-registration is required, due to class size being limited to 10 students for the 10 computer workstations.
• If a class you want is designated as "FULL", you should request to be put on the "waiting list".  Typically about 30% of all the pre-registered people fail to honor their commitment to show up.
• Classes run for 2 hours a week, for 6 weeks.

The above information is from copied the SeniorNet "Page 3 Class Descriptions" page,
at   SusquehannaSeniorNet.org  .

2. About Listserver Note In Printed Newsletter

Ignore Request To Subscribe

If you receive the snail-mail printed newsletter (next issue coming this week), you will see it includes an article "All About Our Listserver", and that it requests members to "subscribe" themselves.

This note is written for people who are not yet subscribed.
If you're reading this email, that means you're ALREADY subscribed to the Listserver, so you don't have to do anything (unless you wish to "unsubscribe").

Messages that come to you, via our Listserver, are identified by the "subject tag" at the front of the subject line of "[SeniorNet]".
((The Listserver always attaches this Subject Tag to the front of the subject, before it sends a message out,
so that you can tell it came from the Listserver.))

What Exactly Is A Listserver

The Listserver is a Yahoo "Group" (aka eGroup).  This Yahoo group is a free software service. It keeps the address book, sends an announcement to every member when we send an announcement to it, automatically creates a web page archive of every announcement, and also allows people to subscribe and unsubscribe themselves whenever they wish.

Other Listservers

In the Lycoming County region, besides the SeniorNet Listserver, we have Listservers for recycling (Freecycle Network), ballroom dancing, Macintosh computers, model railroading, the Mensa organization, and no-doubt many more.  Some of these are "announce-only" like [SeniorNet], and some are "discussion" where all members can post messages and replies to each other.  Listservers may have members mostly from a local area like [SeniorNet] does, or members may be scattered worldwide.

For any interest or obsession a person may have, there is probably a Listserver, consisting of other people with the same interest.
To explore this, go to the Yahoo Groups Home Page, and type a subject in the "Find A Yahoo Group" Search box.

Some Listservers like SeniorNet you can just subscribe yourself.  For others your subscription request has to be approved (to keep out Spammers usually).  For some like SeniorNet, the "Message Archives" are public.  For others, you have to be a member with a "Yahoo ID", and "login" before you can browse the message archives.
