SeniorNet Computer Club meeting  - Downloading audio books and ebooks

Tuesday, July 22 - 5:30 pm - Library Fourth floor- SeniorNet Center. No registration needed. All ages are welcome to attend. This is a free presentation.

The next computer club meeting will be a demonstration on how to download great books like these, pictured above and hundreds more. You'll learn how to download the titles to a computer and easily transfer them to a MP3 player or other device.  Downloading and reading ebooks will also be covered.

For a one time cost of a single audiobook on CD,  readers who prefer to listen to a book can now

access a digital library of over 500 popular audiobook titles.   The Lycoming County Library System has contracted with OverDrive to offer the public a selection of audiobooks that can be downloaded to a simple, inexpensive MP3 players or other devices.

Library cardholders can checkout and download fiction and nonfiction for both adults and children to a personal computer anytime, anywhere.  Once downloaded, digital titles can be enjoyed on the computer or transferred to MP3 players.  Many titles can be burned to a CD to enjoy in the car.  At the end of the 14-day lending period titles automatically “expire” and return themselves to the digital shelves. No overdue fines or books to return.

Some titles are available to single borrowers at one time.  If they are checked out readers can automatically place themselves on a waiting list.  Other titles are available for multiple borrowers at anytime all the time.
