Engineering a Renaissance; enhancing education, advancing research, bettering society.
Our Philosophy: Making Connections
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
What defines the engineering and applied sciences community at Harvard?
We have little hierarchy and a high level of autonomy; no formal
departments but countless informal groups linked by similar interests.
Collaborations are commonplace.
The engineering and applied sciences community embraces flexibility,
adaptability, and a “never say no” attitude. As a result, we are and will
continue to be a connector and an integrator within the broader University
community—building bridges between disciplines, departments,
and schools, and spurring novel partnerships between engineering and
medicine, public health, business, law, and government.
Our transition from the Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences to
the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in 2006-07 is
a recognition and celebration of the renewal and growth engineering and
applied sciences has experienced in recent years at Harvard.
We invite all of our alumni, friends, and supporters to work with us to
build an even stronger and more vibrant community in the years ahead.
