All winning places for the September Photo are posted under Photos !09 09 Photo
Contest. We get better all the time. Difficult to pick winners. I happen to like
little girls as that's what I raised, so the Full Moon is my favorite. The
Walrus was especially nice too. You all were so good. Keep up the great work.

I'm using Photoshop Elements 6 for the Mac and I cannot figure out how to email multiple photos directly from PSE. I have successfully attached a single photo to an email from PSE, but since only one photo can be "active" (selected) at a time in the editor, I can't attach more than one to a message (the "active" or selected image). What am I missing here? Surely there is a way. In the book "the photoshop elements 6 book for digital photographers" by Kelby and Kloskowski, there is a procedure for doing what I want, but it doesn't seem to work for the Mac (although they say it does). Is there a way to "open" (select) multiple images at the same time in PSE?
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I live in Camarillo and would like to ride-share with members living in Camarillo or Ventura.
Park and Ride can be used at Las Posas and the 101 FWY
My personal favorite is Proshow Gold (or Proshow Professional) from
http://www.Photodex.com. It's basic interface gets you going quickly with
additional features that can produce very sophisticated shows. There is also a
very active unofficial "proshowgroup" Yahoo Groups site which can be very
helpful and is full of ideas.
For quick slide shows I use our clubs favorite image viewer, FastStone. Among
its many capabilities is a feature that lets you instantly play a slideshow from
a directory of photos including a variety of options such as transitions and
background music (Right click and choose slide show). Or, you can create a free
standing (.exe) slide show to share with others by chosing "Create/Slide Show
Builder" from the menu bar (or Alt+S).
Creating and sharing slide shows is great fun and the modern day photo album. We
frequently watch family event slide shows on our TV...photos that would have
otherwise languished sight unseen for years in traditional photo albums.

Paul,
Many PC users like Pro Show Gold for making slide shows. You will find a review
of this program on our Photo Group website at the bottom of the page in the

Mac users often like iPhoto or Photo to Movie.

Hi All,
All July Photo Contest winners that were sent in for critiquing have
been posted. If your winner didn't make it, please submit to me or to
Darrel and we will see that it is posted.
We had some fabulous photos submitted. The judging wasn't easy. Our
photographic skills have certainly racheted up a notch or two. We should
all pat ourselves on the back for how the club has helped us all be
better photographers. It is a community affair and all are to be
commended for the work that has brought this to fruition.

Plans for the 2009 2009 Summer Festival & Picnic are well underway. The SFP will be held on September 12 at the Oak Canyon Community Park in Oak Park.
Featured events include:
A potluck picnic and barbeque at noon
A Photo OP with a professional photographer who will assign a subject, give a lecture on how to perform the assignment and assist participants in carrying out the assignment
A photo contest for photos taken at the Festival held at a subsequent Photo Group meeting
Games with prizes for the winners. The games are usually a riot and most people seem to enjoy them. If enough children will be attending, we will set up special games for them
We need volunteers and coordinators for tasks required to make the picnic a success. You will find these tasks on the TOPCCDPS site under Files\2009 Picnic.
Anyone wishing to help, please contact Harry Isaman and/or Chuck Johnson, email address below. Under Files\2009 Picnic, you will also find a brief write up on the SFP and sign up sheet for food and other such things that are required to make the picnic a success. We will bring the sign up sheets to the Photo Group and to the TOPCC general membership meetings.
Mike, Anida:
Hutch is right on target here with a great description. Even if you bought
Photoshop Elements recently, it could have been packaged long before the Camera
Raw update for the 50D came out.
Here another way to find the upgrade.
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
Scroll down a little and you will find the links to download Adobe Camera Raw
5.3. The download page has detailed instructions for its installation.
If you still have problems, holler out on this thread.
If there is still room in Darrel's Photoshop workshop, he will be covering how
to use Adobe Camera Raw.

The raw format gives you the greatest possible
range of data in the photo, from there you can edit and change to a lower
format, but you always save the raw format to contain the greatest amount of
data for the shot. You can go down in quality but not up in quality from
any other starting format.
Thank you
for the information. But that raises another question. If I cannot access my
files in CR2 to edit, then what is the advantage of taking the photos in RAW to
begin with? I understand that edits should not be done in jpg because they
degrade with each save.
Thanks again, Anida
