RE: [TRS-80] Re: Best TRS-80 Emulator for Windows?

I use both David Keil's and Matthew Reed's emulators in XP.

Reed's is nice in that it runs in a window in XP. But the cassette
emulation only works in real time - as slow as the original Model I.

Keil's will go full screen only in XP, but it's firly easy to minimize it
and do other stuff on the PC.The big advantage (at least for me) is that
the cassette emulation works at high speed. Also, for me, it seems to be
a lot faster than Reed's emulator (when both are set at maximum speed).

Since I originally only owned a Model I with Cassette, I enjoy playing
with some of the original cassette software. Using Keil's emulator,
I can bring back the original fun, only at extreme high speed cassette.

Keil's will work on any old DOS machine - I use it a lot on
an Omnibook 430. It's great to have a TRS-80 running on a 4-penlight
battery machine.

a good position to do right now. I have tried MESS but it does not seem to be
all that great for these systems.

Hi Derek, I assume the shareware one you are referring to is Matthew Reed's? If it's Model 1 functionality you're looking for, I would argue that it's fully...

I agree with Terry: prefer TRS32 but also suggest checking out HT-1080z. AFAIK the HT-1080z emulator is one of the only (maybe "the only" -?) TRS-80 emulator...

Have you been able to play space warp in either emulators? I've been trying both and can't get it to load in either case. Not sure if it's the cassette image,...
