Actually i think 3:00 is better-
reason:
somewhere between 11:00-1:00 trinidadians have
their sunday lunch generally... so they usually relax afterwards etc etc..
so by 2:00 they are just ready to do something else- it takes us
20-40 mins for members to get to the meeting -- which brings it
to minutes to 3:00... so give the rest of us some breathing time
and start the meeting at 3:00pm sharp (benevolent dicatator
again!!!) and the meeting should not be more than 2hrs. Ideally
90 minutes. so by 5:00 we should be ready to head out.
Keep the agendas short.

cooperation is good- but in _my_ opinion, us joining them is a definate no no
(thats my boisterous opinion) our focus is open source- not computing in
general... check thetechies for that... also we are essentially a LUG, which
is very different to TTCS. We will in effect become one of their SIGS. Another
thing, TTCS is a 'registered company'... TTLUG/OSATT aspires to be a non-profit
organisation. I told Dev this before, and will do my best to ensure that TTLUG
remains independent from any other organisation. For all those who want
alliances
and cooperation etc etc etc... please check the LUG FAQ before you jump into
it-- LUGS are very different to Comp. Socs. (Please please please, Read and
understand
this!!!!!)
I am all for cooperation between both groups _BUT_ I AM TOTALLY 100% AGAINST
ANY MOVE TO JOIN OSATT to TTCS.
saying that.... heres is one thats going to have some of u thinking.
I will be officially resigning my position as Chair, effective 2 weeks time,
reason
being that i will be out of the country for a period of time (not too sure how
long).
I will still be member of the group via Email (you can't get rid of me that
easily)
In view of this, we need someone to take over my place. So you guys need to
elect
someone to that position. I have two people in mind: 1. Dr. Adrian Chung & 2.
Richard Jobity.
In my view, no one else have aptly demonstrated that they can effectively
lead/run the
group. If we did heve more 100% Committed Linux people we would have more
choice. Ideally
our head should be a Fulltime Linux user who believes in it- and proves it in
action. NO
CURIOUS ONLOOKERS PLEASE!!!!!... they are just here for the show!!!!
Why Adrain & Richard ???
Dr. Chung is very well versed in Linux/Unix, his knowledge and focus will be
very right for the
group. TTLUG needs such a person to run the group. Dr. Chung have not attended
a lot of meetings,
but i'm sure will make time to oversee the running of the group. This can also
benefit him, by placing
himself at the head of TTLUG/OSATT he will be the natural choice for consultant
for many organisations.
Adrian is my 1st choice.
Richard Jobity has been a hard working member of the group, and have not missed
a single meeting in
both POS and San Fernando. Richard is not the most skilled Linux User in the
group, but with his dedication
he will ensure that the group continues functions and with a little help from
the rest of us, ensure the group
develops into something more than worth being part off.
Saying this, I have not told either of them this, so we need comments from them
both and anyone else who
wishes to become the Esteemed head of OSATT (hahaha).
So lets have your comments, views, opinions etc etc etc.

Kerry

Richard,
Oh Great... a real agenda!
Since this is a rebirth of some kind... can we perhaps canvas our membership
for things that they want to see & hear??
BTW, Richard, I was speaking with Dev Teelucksingh... and he is not
inhospitable to a strategic alliance between his group TTCS & us.
He was a bit put off by the, er, boisterous, nature of some of our
membership...
But I think cooperation is the name of the game in this little island of
ours...
Also, can you email him personally so's he can join TTLUG???... he's for it,
as a matter of fact.
What do you think Richard??
OOPs - I remember Dev saying that because of his schedule, he only gets to
read his email on weekends.
Paul Worskwick is also a member of Dev's group... so paul if your're on
could you expedite things?

I have had a major casualty. I was on a committee that was supposed to oversee

reneged on a commitment I made to spend more time beefing up my server setup

Once football is on Saturday :))
Else I'll not be there.
Networking rules.
Got great skills with Samba, Ipchains, NFS and a shit load of stuff now.
But I have a $%&^$%&^&*#%&% problem with minivend.
The server ran all weekend
This morning the eCommerce app minivend and apache had some wows
This is the grieving error . Nothing is wrong with apache cause the test.pl
works. I made another virtual host and installed minivend in that host and
still minivend reported the error. The test.pl works!!!
WTFFFFFFFFF is wrong with this thing. Talked to people who use the minivend
and they dont know whats wrong. Read this error and weep..
We are sorry, but the cgi-bin server is unavailable due to a
system error.
„ : Unknown error 134518139 (134518139)
I know I'm not going home tonight.
And I have a trainig sessions now. 6-8pm.
Bunty is getting annoyed with computers.
But I still believe in freeware.. *snicker*
Bunty is going back to nature.
Say hello to cave man bunty in like 5 years.
I'll be talking Neandertol so that's why I'm telling you in advance

Any problem with that idea, Kerry?
we can do the whole "from scratch" thing - putting in
the card, talking about the type of cabling we need -
show the group - that type of thing.
I'm not talking big network like Allan's. I'm talking
peer - to peer with crossover cable. If you like, we
could also try to set it up in a kind of dualboot
thingy with w9x, since it may be what the group uses.
Useful for that old PC, too.

If there is no objection, I can bring a box and a
crossover cable up and we can run a session on
networking from scratch (bare box to network).
We could do that on Sunday, if anyone is interested.
And,
SPEAK TO ME, OSATTERS
<grin>
Lord knows there isn't much levity on the "other"
list.

Allan,
In respect of the whole linux-as-a-business thing... I think I want to get
involved.
It's the only way this OS is going to take off fast down here. I have lots
of business experience. ...Oh and I'm not greedy. I'm also honest.
Any ideas??

I really don't know if anyone's on as yet... but in a few days I'm going to make some serious proposals to TTLUG... the OSATT group is stuck in the mud & we've got to pull it out!
