Adding email URLs to TalaPhoto web pages   Message List

Mark Surloff uses TalaPhoto to show clients the results of his
commercial photo shoots. http://www.surloff.com He had a great idea
for creating an email link on a page, that I thought was worth
sharing with the TalaPhoto Users list.

** Adding email URLs to TalaPhoto web pages **

There's a relatively easy way to add an email link to a TalaPhoto web
page, just by entering some HTML into an annotation field.

1. Choose one of the annotation types to hold info for your email
link. Let's use the Custom field for this example. (Any annotation
type would work the same way.)

2. Open the Annotation Editor (Command-J) and select the Custom field
in the ProjectText tab.

3. Enter the HTML text for a mailto link into the Custom text field.
A simple email link will look like this:

<a href="mailto:joe@...">Email me</a>

You can also create more sophisticated mailto URLs which include text
for the Subject and Message Body. Here's an easy way to do that, just
by filling out a simple form.

http://email.about.com/library/misc/blmailto_encoder.htm

Just fill out the form and use the result in a link like this.

<a href="PutMailToTextFromTheFormHere">Email me</a>

4. In the WebDesigner view set either the TopAnnotation or
BottonAnnotation field to show the Custom annotation. (Don't use the
Watermark field, it will just mark your images with the raw HTML
text.)

5. Although TalaPhoto will show the entire HTML text onscreen, the
user's web browser will only show "Email me" as a link. Clicking that
link will create a new outgoing email message.

6. Change the "Email me" portion of the link to whatever text you'd
like displayed on the web page seen by the user.

7. If desired, you could support multiple links per page, just by
including more HTML in each annotation.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Joe
