&

Matt Landos  BVSc(HonsI) MACVS (Aquatic Animal Health Chapter), Principal, Future Fisheries Veterinary Services, Honorary lecturer & research associate, University of Sydney

will present at the medical grand rounds at 1-2 pm at the Clinical School,

43 Collins Street, Hobart.

There will also be a multidisciplinary meeting and discussion after a presentation later in the afternoon at 3-5 pm in the Clinical School lecture theatre.

These scientists have both been researching the effects of pesticicides on biological systems.

Professor Hayes, who visited Tasmania in 2007, has extensively studied the effects of triazine chemicals on amphibians. His talk in Launceston in 2007 sharing current research was both compelling and disturbing, with clear implications for other animals and human health.

Matt Landos has been studying the effects of exposure to fish from pesticides in waterways.

Their findings reinforce the need for medical professionals  and  all scientists involved with the environment to become well informed and engaged in this public health challenge.

All welcome, gold coin donation at the door.

Contact: Dr Alison Bleaney 0417 302 549   Secretary of Break O'Day Catchment Risk Group
