I'm using an italian keyboard. It is easy to insert braces:
AltGr + Shift + [ produces {
AltGr + Shift + ] produces }
Unfortunately, I know no straightforward solution for the tilde.

Hello, This is an old problem (not with the braces but with tilde. See below the copy of messages from 2004!!! I hope this helps (especially the last message)....
