Occasionally people ask me to check whether an email list has
been quiet for a while, worried that they are somehow not getting the
messages. You can check this yourself, anytime you're
online, by logging into the Yahoo Group's page. Cut &
paste or type this URL into your web browser's address field, but
inserting the exact name of the group you want to check where
indicated:
On this web page you'll see a list of all recent messages
delivered to that group. If this is consistent with the
email messages you've received, than everything is probably working
fine.
If you find messages on the group messages page which are not
appearing your email inbox, check your Spam or Junk folder.
If you find list messages there, mark them as "not spam"
and/or add the list's email address to your Address Book.
(Or adapt these instructions to whatever email application and service
you use and how it filters junk mail).
Sometimes Yahoo or your ISP hiccups, and some people receive
email messages hours, occasionally a day, later than others.
If you've checked everything above, and still believe messages
(that are more than a day old) are getting lost in the aether, please
let me know at Problems@.... If you have any other
questions about email lists, or need list management services, please
contact me at the email address below.
Thanks you.
