Hi Nancy,
Just letting you know that fixed my OE problem. That's the easiest and fastest fix I've ever done. Took all of about 10 seconds. Thanks so much for the information. It was driving me crazy, because I zip and send a lot of things through the PSP groups I belong to. Thanks for all you do for us.
Vonda

Glad it was an easy fix for you!!
OE and IE both get knocked out of the default position as soon as anything is installed or updated that conflict with it.. Thankfully putting everything right is easy enough..

Hello Nancy and other good folk,

These are not computer problems as such,
more computer program problems.
Is there a way to take the audio out of a pps file?
I do have PowerPoint on my comp.
I have been sent a file with a lovely song that plays in it,
and would love to save it.
And another question... does anyone know of a program,
(preferably free) to batch convert WMA files MP3?
Thankyou for all the help you give.

Polly
--------------
For Polly wanting to save audio from a pps file. Open Powerpoint and import the pps file.
Click File, Save As... and in the 'Save As Type' box choose Web Page (*.htm, *.html).
You can save it to the Desktop and you'll get an HTML Document as well as a Folder.
Open the Folder and the sound file (e.g. Sound 001.wav) will probably be the last file in
that folder. Hope this helps. Cheryl T. (Auckland, NZ)

I have a strange problem with AOL signing on...but then it is AOL, so maybe not strange after all!

Most times I turn on my computer, my AOL doesn't load up. I am aware of MSCONFIG and know all the required programs are checked. But...every time I restart my computer, AOL loads up...every time.

It is a hassle to keep restarting my computer...but I can't figure out why it doesn't load up with the first computer start up.

Hi Nancy

Thanks for the info in regards to the IE Script Error.  Your reponse cured the problem.

My next question is how to get around the following 'error' after any restart or reboot:

Restarting your Computer is required

?  The computer must be restarted before updating can continue.
Would you like to restart now?
    Yes      No

I am on IE8 and have been for some time now.  I believe I switched over when RC1 came out and updated when the final version came out.  Anyway I have let it restart several times to no avail; i.e it just goes down, comes up and repeats the 'must restart' message after every 'yes'.  Occasionally I go thru the several restarts before I give up and just answer 'no' so I can get my system back up.  I figure three or four times going thru the restarts would get past any need for updates to be installed.

My other question is probably a dumb one.  My computer is about three years old and has probably required me to reinstall the system from CDs (the restore CDs I had to make when I first fired up the system) a half dozen times.   Usually when the system 'crashes' or freezes I can just reboot manually and it comes up OK.  The times when I had to reinstall the system the blue screen would come up asking how I wanted the system restarted.  Any answer I gave would only redisplay the same screen.  Is it possible to have a boot CD that would go to the system restore partition of the hard drive to bring the system up that way?  Or would the restore not be able to overwrite what has been destroyed?

My computer:
HP m7350m
XP Media Center Edition
Pentium D CPU 2.80 GHz
Ram 4 GB
HDs 500GB & 250 GB

Hi Nancy,

We have three Compaq computers with XP and Outlook Express.

On two of the computers we never have to sign in to get email or
send emails.  On the third computer we have to sign in every time
we bring it up and every time we send an email.

I just cannot find anything that is set to make that one computer
different.

I appreciate your help as always.
