Problem Overview: Outlook Express cannot send mail when
running under OS 10.3 Panther
Situation:
I moved both my Eudora and my Outlook Express applications and mail folders from my OS 9.2 G3 to my OS 10.3 Powerbook.
I can both send and receive from Eudora (which apparently is "carbonized" since it runs with a blue apple).
Outlook Express Problems:
- I can receive mail in Outlook Express.
- I can send mail in outlook express to myself.
- But when I try to send my to any other domains, I get the error message
"the server did not recognize the recipients" etc -- see the below screen capture.
- I got a similar error about 6 months ago under OS 9 when my outgoing mail authentication was not turned on. But since then authentication has always been turned on -- see 2nd ATTACHMENT at bottom.
- In other words, this Outlook Express application worked fine under OS 9.2, but when running in Classic mode under OS 10.3, it seems to be having an authentication problem, even though all the settings appear to be set the same as before.
Question: Has anybody else
encountered a similar problem (with Outlook Express, when
changing from OS 9 to Classic under OS X ??

Additional Notes
1 -- I called my ISP, ReadyHosting.com about this, but they said they don't support Macs, and could not think of a reason why I was having this problem.
2 -- There appears to be no OS X version of Outlook Express, so we are forced to run it under Classic.
3 -- A workaround is to send using Eudora (which is how I am sending this message), but I usually use Eudora for personal correspondence, and Outlook Express for the Listservers,
so this confuses my mail sorting.
EVENTUALLY I can probably switch from Outlook Express to
something else, but I would like to get it working when running under
Classic, so I can make the transition later, when I am ready.
