I have had this same problem. It seems to stem from the fact that
AutoCAD changes its file format regularly. It is not backwardly
compatible even with its own files e.g. AutoCAD 2000 cannot read AutoCAD
98 files . I have overcome this with saving TurboCAD files in dxf format.
