Hi Michael:

The Library is a list-serve group of TurboCAD users. What is a list-
serve group? Strictly speaking, it is a group of people who
participate in forum discussion, if they wish, by email. In our case,
the Library is a list-serve group centered on developing a *working*
TurboCAD file library. Members can participate in forum discussion by
email, or by directly posting messages in the Messages area after
logging into Yahoo! Groups.

All members subscribe to the group by submitting an email address,
which is added to the group's mailing list. Because we are a list-
serve group, all messages that are posted in the forum area are also
sent by email to members. You will receive these messages if you have
your Delivery Options set to "Individual Emails" or to "Daily
Digest." Members can change these settings on their Delivery Options
page.

Members subscribe to the group to share TurboCAD files such as
macros, templates, documentation, etc. Each member shares her/his
files, yet at the same time, each member has access to other files
posted by other members. By collaboration and cooperation, we hope to
build up content within the Library over time.

Hi Sean:

You do have access to whatever files are in the library. It's just
that most of the file categories within the Archive-Library folder in
the Files area are empty. This is because we are in the preliminary
stage of just trying to bootstrap the Library into existence, so
content is exceedingly thin.

TurboCAD users subscribe to this group to share TurboCAD files such
as macros, templates, documentation, etc. Each member shares her/his
files, yet at the same time, each member has access to other files
that might be contributed by other members. Members also try to
cooperate and help each other by sharing ideas and expertise.

Perhaps many members, upon joining, expected a file library already
stuffed full of content. Sorry, but this is not the case. Our group
has been in existence for only a few months, and I suspect that it
will take some time before the library builds up content. This will
happen once a significant number of members actively participate and
contribute files to the library.

Please note that the Library is independent. We're not officially
affiliated with IMSI, nor with any of TurboCAD's developers or
marketers.

Hi Keith:

As you've no doubt figured out, we're a totally new group and have
been in existence for only a short period of time. Looks like we've
been quiet for the past month or so, and you'll notice that content
in the library is still thin. But because membership continues to
grow every week, I'm positive that our group has the potential to
eventually develop a *real* working file library for TurboCAD users.
I notice that some members have already contributed content, and I
also hope to do so soon.

Hi Mike,

I'm working up a Site Plan type of drawing for our architectural
consultants. It will be an "acceptable/not acceptable" sort of thing.
The goal is a set of architectural and engineering graphic standards
our consultants will be required to meet.

So far I have a line style file in the works and am working on hatch
patterns for cross sections.

This would not be necessary if the advent of CAD had not sacrificed
drafting skills and pride in one's handiwork on the altar of "the
bottom line".

I will send you my patterns when they are debugged.

I've worked with one topographic map in TC. The map is 1:5000, about 1km by
4km, and centered on an inactive monazite mine in South Africa. The map is
fairly detailed, but most of the detail is geology and rock structure. The map
is in 2D, but back in v6, I experimented a bit with 3D. I still want to draw

Terry - I bow to Craig's VBA programming prowess when it comes to
programming macros in TCP. I gave up with TCP's VBA because the docs
are insufficient. I'm under the understanding that new docs are being
worked on as we speak. However, I have done some VBA in Excel, so
I'll offer you an alternative to printing from your TCP VBA macro;
send your results to a file. Once they're in a file, you have a
plethora of other programs to choose from for formatting, etc. If you
own Excel, for example, you could even save your TCP results in CSV
format and use Excel's import wizard to automatically separate the
data into rows and columns. If you get your data into variables
within a TCP macro, you probably won't need any help sending it to a
file. If you choose to send to a file, the standard VBA (not TCP-
specific) Methods, etc. can be employed. I'll offer my help if you
need it, but it's not likely.

Hi all,

In the Archive section I have posted a macro which can move and stack
entities in model space.

The macro has a number of features, and a small form will remain
visible in the drawing area until you wish it to go away. This
avoids the use of the inspector bar. If you make a multiple
selection Relative mode will move all entities the specified relative
distance. In absolute mode all entities will move to the specified
location.

The stack mode will move all selected profiles to point 0,0,0 on the
world plan, and will arrange them a specified distance apart.
Excellent for stacking profiles for lofting. (entities are stacked
in order of creation.

A couple of other features are included, which take a profile and
stack multiple copies in a predefined arrangement.

For further profile control, another macro has been posted that
allows user input to create and stack profiles. You can scale,
rotate, separate by a defined distance or separate by an increasing
distance. Try moving the reference point, and modify the profiles.
but remember to place the profile on the workplane by using
Format|Place on workplane or snap to grid.

You must work on the default World workplane. And the undo feature
is disabled for this macro.

Enjoy,

Craig H.

Terry,

I'm not fully familiar with the exact code, but I am a macro user. I
would start with a form that has a field, or (dropdown list) you can
enter the attribute you wish to search for (or select). The property
select macro within turbocad has some code which can help with this.

For example TurboCAD has a Regen Method that is labled differently
for each item like cube is TCW40CUBE You can ask your macro to select
all the entities with this flag and count all the items in the
selection. As for printing a list. I would be of no help.

Ther is a Programming forum that may be of some help in that area.

Hope this helps,

Craig H.

I have been trying to generate the problem, but I am always able to
switch to relative coordinates (I usually use the toolbar buttons). I
am working with TC 7.0 Pro. If your problem is not solved by Mike's
suggestion, please be more specific about the version of TC you are
using, settings, etc. It could also help when you drop your file at
the site so we can actually reproduce the problem.
Best regards, Rob Zaat.

The thread in the file demo.tcw has been created the way Mike
describes in his answer. I drawn one tooth in 2D and spiral-revolved
it. Give it a try with settings like the example Spiral coil-02.jpg
(Revolve Properties). It's faster to select the Surface option
instead of Solid in the 3D window of Revolve Properties. For a better
result raise the number of Sections per Spiral Coil. After Revolve 3D-
add a cylinder to your spiral. This works for me.
Succes, Rob Zaat.

Instead of attempting to create a threaded screw with a torus, what
about revolving a 2D model or profile?

Maybe revolve a rectangle to create a cylinder, and at the same time,
you could revolve a circle or perhaps a triangular profile to create a
spiral - the pitch and number of coils on the spiral can be adjusted
after revolving. Design your profile so that the spiral will overlap
the cylinder a bit after revolving. Next boolean subtract the spiral
from the cylinder.

I'd be interested to hear other techniques...

How have you tried threading nuts and bolts so far? (In what version and build
number of TurboCAD?)

This was and is a great idea Mike. Anything that helps out Turbocad
and Turbocad users can't be a bad thing. Just takes a bit to get used
to the site.

Thanks,
Kevin Doucette

GROUP ANNOUNCEMENTS
----------------------------------------------------------

--TurboCAD-File-Library Forms on January 10, 2001
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TurboCAD-File-Library

This group, the TurboCAD-File-Library Cooperative, first formed on
January 10, 2001. New members will notice that the library contains
very little content. Remember, this group represents a grass-roots
effort to bootstrap an archive library into existence. Whether the
library succeeds or not hinges on member participation. Will members
please consider uploading content to the library? Even a simple
contribution, say a template or symbol, is an asset. The Files area
is located at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TurboCAD-File-Library/files

--Group Message Board Goes "Live"
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TurboCAD-File-Library/messages

Now that the group's message board is turned on, members can post
messages. Messages can be used to announce new or modified versions
of content in the library. Members can also use messages to propose
new projects and seek collaborators, to discuss product development,
or to distribute newsletters and announcements to the group.

We only ask that files not be attached to messages. Files should
instead be uploaded to the Files area of the library, and members are
then requested to post a message announcing the upload and its
location in the Files area.

Note that it's not necessary to log onto the group's site at Yahoo!
Groups to post messages. Members can participate in message
discussions solely by email. For more information and help about
messages:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/messages

Moderated members who wish to post messages are asked to first
contribute content to the library, or else send email to the
Moderator requesting use of the message board.

--Yahoo! acquires eGroups
http://groups.yahoo.com/local/news.html

Because Yahoo! acquired eGroups, members who joined the group before
January 25 or thereabouts will be asked by Yahoo! to convert their
existing eGroups account. This is a one-time conversion, and can be
done painlessly using the Conversion Wizard:
http://beta.groups.yahoo.com/convwiz

For more information and help about converting an existing eGroups
account to Yahoo! Groups:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/groups-37.html

--Privacy Policy
http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/

Members concerned about their privacy should read the Yahoo! Privacy
Policy (link below headline). The TurboCAD-File-Library itself does
not keep nor distribute any information about members.

--Cast Your Vote in the Polls
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TurboCAD-File-Library/polls

Over time, new polls will posted in the Polls area (link below
headline). At present, an active poll requests input from members
concerning contract work - should this group accept commercial
contract work? If so, only those members interested in participating
in contract work would do so. Vote on this issue in the polls area.
