Dear Friendly GIS person,
I found your URL on John Turmel's site and have LONG been dreaming of
a smart credit or debit card with a LETS currency. Have you actually
produced one??? Please do let me know!
JCT: Michael Linton has smart cards.
I'm off to an Open Systems conference in Berlin where Open Money is on
the agenda and the programmer who created cybercredits. Hence I would
LOVE to be up to date, especially as Michael Linton will be there,
too, who was sponsored by John to make LETS happen initially. Looking
forward to hearing from you, Sabine

JCT: Sabine.
http://www.un.org/millennium/declaration.htm Section C6 to
governments contains the recommendation of the Millennium Forum in the
Millennium Declaration to "restructure the global financial
architecture with an alternative UNILETS interest-free time-based
currency after a presentation by LETS Consulting Engineer and
financial angel John C. Turmel, B. Eng. who says that the whole-world
trading contains none the malfunctions traditionally associated with
the diminished scope of small LETS group trading. But:

>Subject: TURMEL: UNILETS challenge to candidates and party leaders

> "it is my personal opinion that John Turmel's "engineering" designs,
particularly his so-called "UNILETS" model, are generally well
intentioned, but fundamentally flawed and utterly impractical. Lot's
of noise, very little signal. So, while we appreciate his intention,
WE STRONGLY ADVISE ALL TO IGNORE HIS PROPOSALS."
JCT: First, he didn't actually cite any fundamental flaws in what
I say is an optimally-engineered interest-free inflation-free token
system, as optimal as poker chips.
Six small Argentine provinces experimented with interest-free
inflation-fighting (1000% to 36%) LETS currencies in the mid 1980s.
Now the largest province, Buenos Aires, has just launched it's LETS
experimental Patacon bond-currency and the others are sure to follow.
Who says that all time-based currencies can't be intertraded and
inter-accepted within one interest-free UNILETS "global financial
architecture restructured by the use of an alternative time-based
currency " as the Millennium Forum's 1350 delegates concluded that the
LETS anti-poverty system applied world-wide is the world-wide answer.
Michael Linton says the engineering of the world-wide UNILETS
version of his local LETS software is "fundamentally flawed." Sadly,
he's the technician who built the first LETS prototypes without
appreciating their global significance that I do.
Since no one has asked what is fundamentally flawed about the
interest-free UNILETS alternative time-based currency recommended in
the Millennium Declaration to restructure the global financial
architecture, you can be first.
Please ask him what is wrong with the UN version of LETS
timecurrency for me.
