Our investigators inare issued tan 5.11 cargo pants and also issued black Elbeco Tek-Twill cargo pants. As far as shirts, we have a combination of canvas buttondowns embroidered with a likeness of the badge to satisfy code requirements (These we get from Cabelas and they hold up REALLY well) and we also have knit polos, also embroidered with the badge.
For court, we are required to either wear a suit, coat and tie, or class A uniform.
The cost and upkeep on these items is far less than that of wearing a suit every day. Dry cleaning alone can run a small fortune.
Hope this input helps.

I am a civilian employee evidence tech for Leesburg PD. I get a clothing allowance and buy my own clothing. I wear tan or blue 5.11 pants and knit shirts. I could also wear BDU style pants if I want-which I do on occasion.
Hope this helps.

I am looking for any agency that allows their investigators or their CSI's to wear a Kaki pant, polo shirt type uniform on a normal bases as opposed to a suit. Because of budget cuts this route is going to be less expensive for our investigator not only on a professional level but on a personal one as well. The problem is that our chief is a little old school when it comes to investigations and believes that we should be in a suit every day. If there are other agencies out there that wear the Kaki pant, polo shirt style uniform and could give me feed back on them with regards to cost and practical use it would be helpful.
