I teach, along with others a short, 40-hour basic crime scene investigation
course (CSCJTA-Weyers Cave).
It is for sworn Police Officers/jailers and the like, but this recent news has
me wondering about where the program will be in a year or two...
The course is to just get "boots on the ground" and improve the level of
services provided by the first responder to the community and with the NAS
recommendations and everything that is going on...
I do not necessarily disagree with the broad premis about improvements and
standardization, but to only have lab presonell respond?
Doesn't hurt my feelings, but I can't see the logistics making that happen.
Especially in this recession and money cutting. I have a hard enough time
getting off of work to get to the IAI seminars, not sure how I could maintain a
certification-especially when work stops paying.
I am just babbling, but I do not want to see an important, viable and what I see
as a necessary curriculum, that has its successes, be terminated without a
chance to validate itself against the NAS' recommendations.
Anyway, we will continue to provide the course until things change
