Quick 16:6 vs 4:3 question I think I know the answer to   Message List

Re: [VTNT] Re: Quick 16:6 vs 4:3 question I think I know the answer to

This is resolved!

I had 'mounted' the camcorder and copied the .MOD files to my hard drive.
Then following José's suggestion I just renamed the .MOD to .mpg and I
was then able to double-click on the renamed file and in Windows and
Windows Media player played it just fine. I put that file into SE
(VT-5) and it looked OK sitting there but had no audio - and when I
tried to delete it out of the project - it crashed VT5 -- (it stopped
responding) -- I had to to End Program from Windows Task Manager
(twice) to kill the hung VT process.

To fix the audio, I used a tool Blaine suggested...
http://labs.trms.com/fixmpeg/

This worked fine and the resulting .mpg from the tool loaded up into
SE (VT5) and was letter boxed (in a 4:3 project) and the audio was OK.

Thanks all for your suggestions and help...

John P - if I'm taking the hint correctly I can give you one of these
.MOD clips -- let me know.

The optimum thing would be to transfer the video from the drive and not capture. If for some reason you can not, then capture via fire wire. In SpeedEdit, if...
