Subject: Observe the MESSENGER spacecraft tomorrow during its Earth flyby

Observers in Japan, Asia, Europe, and Africa will have
a good chance to observe the MESSENGER spacecraft during its flyby
with closest approach at 19:13 UT tomorrow, August 2nd.
The spacecraft might be around 9th magnitude for Asian observers.
Conditions are less favorable for areas not mentioned about; for
example, North American observers will only be able to observe
the spacecraft low in the south tomorrow evening as it speeds
away from Earth, by then about 14th magnitude or fainter.
For more, see
http://messenger.jhuapl.edu or directly
http://messenger.jhuapl.edu/flyby/look_for.html
which has perigee orbital elements in an item that you can
view by clicking at the bottom of that page. Local ephemerides
can be calculated at the JPL Horizons Web site at
http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eph where you need to
select "spacecraft" from the "objects" tab and then
MESSENGER.
