Please do see the following pages about the planned meeting on the 28
and 29th of March, at Delhi, for amateur astronomers, students and
educators :

This meeting is inspired by, and wishes to celebrate, the efforts of
all those who are out there on the roadside or in parks, sharing
views of celestial objects with the passers by, using their own
handmade telescopes.

The tentative planned sessions are the following: (as of now, these
are all very preliminary thoughts and suggestions are very welcome)

Grass Roots Celebrations of the Sky

Aids for Astronomy Education

Instrumentation for the serious amateur astronomer

Student Projects

Inspiring Jugad Instrumentation from the field of professional
Astronomy

Looking Ahead

The pages and plans are yet to evolve fully. From various reasons,
the planning for the meeting has got delayed, while there are
constraints to make the dates to be the 28th and 29th of March.

The most urgent thing is to have non Delhi participants put in their
expression of interest on this page

So that, out station participants can be selected on a priority basis
and train tickets can be booked. I will make selections as and when
they are entered - and inform - so that train tickets can be booked.

There will be a limit of 40 for the outstation participants -
selection criterion being 1. First come first served and 2.
Instrumehtation or astronomy awareness activities and experience.

Interested participants need to enter their name and an expression of
interest on this page - in particular, mentioning any instrumentation
or astronomy awareness activities that they have participated in. In
addition to entering their name here, they also need to send an e-
mail to nehruplanetarium@... (with subject heading - Taare
Sadak Par) without which the registration will not be considered.

If anyone knows of people who might be interested in participating
and who do not have e-mail access – please do make an e-mail id for
such a
person and mail from that, giving the telephone contact of the person
who would actually like to participate.

There might be a nominal registration fee (most probably to be
collected at the venue). Accommodation will be taken care of, at the
nearby Youth Hostel. 2nd class Travel funding for the participants is
something I am trying for, but, cannot, at the moment guarantee.

Please do enter your expression of interest here urgently, so that, I
can get in touch with the interested participants who could then make
their train bookings.
