The VideoStar / DIY Astronomy group provides a forum for discussing open source telescope interface peripherals. These currently include a motorized focuser /guider interface and a more comprehensive driver box that adds a video timing generator.

Those interested in adding a low-cost motorized focus system to their telescopes should find the VideoStar jr. project of interest. It drives the popular NGF-S focuser, giving temperature compensation and RS-232 capabilities. Moreover, the drivers are flexible enough to be used with DC motors or stepper motor systems, so that they can be built into just about any user made focusing system.
