Web Services Metadata Exchange Interoperability Workshop - April 10   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #149 of 238 |

Dear WS-Builders members:

WSO2 and the authors of the WS-Metadata Exchange specification would like to invite you to attend a 3-day Interoperability Workshop covering the Web Services Metadata Exchange specifications, to be hosted by WSO2 on April 10-12th, 2007 in Auburn, California (45 minutes northeast of Sacramento, CA).

To attend this event, the attached feedback agreement MUST be reviewed and signed by each attendee - either before or at the workshop event. The purpose of the feedback agreement is to ensure that everyone involved in influencing the specifications is committed to keeping the specification royalty free. Also, as this is an Interoperability Workshop, participants will need to bring an implementation based on the specifications below.

The 3-day interoperability workshop is an ad-hoc, open forum for companies who have implementations based on the WS-Metadata Exchange specifications published in August 2006, and who want to test their implementations with other companies' implementations.  Attendees must bring their own laptops, their implementations and any other tools they feel would be needed; testing among all attendees will occur throughout the day.  A scenario document for use in the Interoperability Workshop is provided in this invitation. Progress of interoperating implementations will be tracked throughout the event.

This workshop will be held in the Executive Boardroom at the Holiday Inn in Auburn, California (see below for location details).

A wireless internet connection will be available during the workshop.

The workshop will be scheduled from 9:00am - 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time each day.  Continental breakfast, lunch, and morning and afternoon coffee service will be provided.   Participants will be responsible for their own dinner arrangements.  Please make any special dietary requirements known in advance, and every effort will be made to accommodate them.  There is no fee associated with this event, but any travel expenses are the responsibility of the attendee.

As with previous workshops, these events are open to anyone who desires to participate and who can bring an implementation based on the WS-Metadata Exchange specification listed above.

If you are interested in participating, please reply to jonathan@... and provide the following information:

A.               Your name

B.               The proper name of the company that you represent.  (e.g. International Business Machines Corporation instead of just IBM)

C.               The name of the implementation/product that you will be bringing to test.  (If confidential, then do not provide.)

D.               Special dietary restrictions, if any.

A signed feedback agreement (see attachment below) must be faxed to Mike Kaiser at 1-845-489-9958.  All Interoperability Workshop attendees are required to have provided a signed before participating in the event.

Feel free to pass this invitation along, either in your company or elsewhere.

This is an open forum.  No invitation is required, but an RSVP is appreciated by the event hosts to facilitate accurate logistics planning.  The list of attendees and general workshop results will be made public after the workshop.

Thank you and we look forward to your participation.

For those wishing to extend their stay for some spring skiing, Lake Tahoe and its numerous ski resorts is about an hour away.

Jonathan Marsh of WSO2 is planning to host a get-together on Wednesday night at his home overlooking Lake Folsom, about 15 min south of town.

Traveling to Auburn:

The nearest significant airport is Sacramento International (SMF).  A small and convenient airport, it is served regularly from both the major airports on the West Coast (SFO, LAX, SEA), but also from major airports eastward (ORD, DEN).

http://www.sacairports.org/int/index.html

The airport is about 15 min north of Sacramento, and about 45 minutes from Auburn (driving directions http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&ss=yp.smf%20airport&cp=38.760292~-121.336315&style=r&lvl=10&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&rtp=pos.qfdhcy4w0ppd_6900%20Airport%20Blvd%2c%20Sacramento%2c%20CA~pos.qggdzp4x92mv_Auburn%2c%20CA).

A rental car is advised; it’s cheaper and more convenient to get a rental car than shuttle service (SMF – Auburn was $65 last time I used it.)  Outside of each terminal are bus stations – wait under the blue sign that says Rental Car for a short shuttle ride to the rental car terminal where seven of the major rental chains have counters.

Accommodations:

Auburn Holiday Inn and Convention Center

A bit nicer than your run-of-the-mill Holiday Inn, this is really Auburn’s only decent hotel.  (The local Comfort Inn has received some bad reviews.)  15 rooms have been reserved at the special rate of $104/night.  For this rate please reserve your room, mentioning the room block for the “WS-Metadata Exchange Workshop” before March 10th to get this rate. Reservations are available at (530) 887-8787 or (800) 465-4329.
