Has the printing issue been fixed? If not, how are folks printing?

No. It produces a PDF. Then you print that via GSview, Lucide, or aros2.

Hi everyone,

I just downloaded a neat plug-in called keyscrambler that defeats
keyloggers. The set-up program offered options to install on internet
explorer, firefox, and flock (whatever that is). I choose internet
explorer and firefox. I use seamonkey but I thought the firefox
installation might work anyway. It didn't. I got a message saying try
adding the plug-in from within firefox by running the keyscrambler.xpi
file which is in included in the download. I started navigator in
seamonkey and opened the file but got an error message saying "install
script not found". So am I out of luck trying to install this plug-in
for seamonkey?

I tried installing it in Seamonkey v2, it quit with an error about not
compatible with OS/2. Considering the xpi has win in its name it is not
surprising.
Seamonkey v2 is much more compatible with Firefox addons

Ooops! My mistake. I should have mentioned that I ran into the problem
described when I tried to add the plug-in to the Windows version of
Seamonkey. Until I succeed at that I'm not even going to try adding it
to the os/2 version of Seamonkey.

I vaguely remember having an ID string, I *think* in user.js, that would attempt
to
spoof web sites that stop loading with a "You do not have the right browser"
error.
I can't remember what it was to save my soul.

Does it still exist? Can someone please refresh my memory?

Thanks!

Yes it exists. I don't remember what the pref itself is called, but you can
manage it in Firefox with the User Agent Switcher extension.

Lately, when trying to sign in to eBay using SeaMonkey (1.1.18), I have been
getting
an error screen:

Website Certified by an Unknown Authority

Unable to verify the identity of srv.ebayrtm.com as a trusted site.

   Possible reasons for this error:
-Your browser does not recognize the Certificate Authority that issued the
site's
                   	 certificate.
-The site's certificate is incomplete due to a server misconfiguration.
-You are connected to a site pretending to be srv.ebayrtm.com, possibly to
obtain your confidential information.

etc. If I examine the certificate, I see that it is purportedly issued by

Common Name (CN) VeriSign Class 3 Secure Server CA
   Organization (O) VeriSign, Inc.
Organizational Unit (OU) VeriSign Trust Network

The certificate looks legit to me, but I know nothing about certificates! It
says
that it was issued by VeriSign. If I accept the certificate "temporarily for
this
session", everything works as expected.

The above problems seem to have started sometime withing the past two weeks, and
I
can't recall having made any changes to Seamonkey in that time frame.

If I close SM, restart it, and try again, I may or may not get the problem. It
could
be happening when I try to sign in before SM is finished painting the screen.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

SeaMonkey 1.1.18 works here with Ebay as it should and as earlier SM
versions, so imho there is no need to jump into alpha versions which
have an additional advantage of crippled printing, if printing at all.

Likely your problem lies here;

Which indicates a javascript problem. So, first question, are you sure
since 14 days javascript (thus not java) hasn't been disabled in the
browser's settings?

Seamonkey 2.0 is no longer in alpha (or beta), although it is certainly less
mature
than Seamonkey 1.1.x at this point. The use of the Cairo library carries many
benefits, but it is less developed on OS/2 than on the "primary" platforms.

It has nothing to do with Javascript. Seamonkey 1.1.18 switched to a newer
version of some libraries to fix some security holes, and there are a few minor
(and cross-platform) SSL issues that have been reported as a result. It is
important
to note that they are very likely NOT going to be fixed; Seamonkey 2.x is the
current stable version, and does not have the same problems (supposedly).

Looks like for browsing we will have to move to the Mac too. (-:

This sounds like it could be the answer. I have SM 2.0 on the machine, but have
not
been able to get it working just yet. Will test some more this evening.

SM 1.1.18 works MOST of the time. It may depend on which eBay server I get
connected
to. It has been suggested elsewhere that an eBay server might be configured
incorrectly.

Thanks!

I have no idea what the specifics are about Tom's issue; as he said, it
works most of the time. I was just sharing what I know. ;-)

> I really wouldn't call a browser lacking printer functions "stable".

Seamonkey is a cross-platform browser, and OS/2-specific issues don't mean
much to anyone else, as far as stability goes. It looks like there will
be an automated printing solution for PostScript and CUPS printers in the
near future; a solution that works with all of the old OS/2 printer
drivers would require an expert in that area to work on the Cairo library.
To be honest, I don't think that is going to happen.

> Looks like for browsing we will have to move to the Mac too. (-:

Not that it matters, but MacOS uses CUPS for printer drivers.

Having it integrated with the OS already is certainly better. The WarpIn
package is supposed to simplify things, but I haven't bothered to try any
of it. I rarely print, and the Postscript driver works.

Hi All

Having had my windows installation eat itself (or catastrophic operator
error) and having to reinstall everything, can I get away with doing the
following:

1. Adding to the win XP system variables

     SET MOZILLA_HOME=L:\!net-home\
     SET MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=L:\!net-home\MOZ_PLUG\w32

2. Then setting up an un-*.slt'd profile of the same name and in the
same working "HOME" sub directory as I have for eCS 1.1x and eCS1.2mr,
saving off the current eCS profile and then copying back after the
windows set-up completes. the eCS plugins arre currently in the root of
...\MOZ_PLUG but I'm thinking of shifting them to ...\MOZ_PLUG\os2 just
for consistency. The desired end result being, that the 3 opsys
SeaMonkey installations all work out of:
     L:\!net-home\Mozilla\Profiles\ <profile name>

Drive L: is a fat32 partition, and my mail is in a separate directory
pointed to in the respective "Mail Account" settings

I'm concerned about conflicts and if there is anything else I would need
to do, so I would appreciate comment from the collective wisdom. TIA

I'm pretty sure MOZILLA_HOME is OS/2 specific. You would have to use the
profile manager to point your profile location to the directory you want.

I don't know if there are any caveats to sharing the profile across
operating systems; I would check Google for hints, unless others here have
advice.

The performance under OS/2 will probably be poor...

I think

profile
should be of help, especially the advanced portion. I don't think
it's impossible to do, but it's possible that there are some OS/2
specific things in some of the profile settings files that may make it
incompatible with a Windows version using the same data. In any case
you would know very rapidly... GRD If it's just bookmarks, THAT could
be done with a dos or REXX script that copied the windows bookmark
file prior to actually opening the OS/2 version, and copied it back
after the os/2 version closed. .

It's been a while since I have done this, but it is simple to do:

- Set-up the profile using eCS on the shared partition.

- In Windows, use the Seamonkey profile manager to add a new profile. Don't
accept the standard profile directory but browse to the profile directory you
want to use and select it.

The issues I can remember with this are:

- There are some settings that use the full path. If the drive letter is
different for the two OSes, there could be problems.

- The status of addons are checked when Seamonkey detects a version change.
This will happen everytime you swap OSes if the two aren't kept at the same
version. There is probably a profile option to turn this off or change the
frequency.

- Some addons are OS dependent. These will cause problems.

Thank you Steve, Stan and David. More reading is obviously required. I
may just try my idea when I get a moment and see what happens, 90+% of
my time is in os2 not windows, so it is not a vital thing to make
happen, I just like the idea of everything in one place rather than
rather than shifting bits back and forth.

I have been sharing profiles between OS/2-eCS and Win for several years.
   It is trivial and safe.

First, I have profiles, mail/news and bookmarks in separate trees on a
data data drive. It is FAT32 and works fine. The apps are on another
FAT32 drive.

All OS/2 needs is:
SET MOZILLA_HOME=X:\MOZPROFILES
SET MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=X:\MOZPROFILES\PLUGINS

And the LIB DLLs in OS2/DLL

And a run object with -Profilemanager as a parameter.

Create the profiles under OS/2-eCS and point to bookmarks and mail/news,
cache, bookmarks - I still use bookmark.htm; 8.3 that started life in NS.

Profiles do dot need to be berried at the bottom of a cryptic tree, you
can put them anywhere you want.

SM 1X and 2X require different profiles but I am still using the same
data noted above. With sqlite coming in that may change.

In W2K and WXP create a shortcut and add a space and "-Profilemanager"
after the run command. Then when SM Win loads lead it to the 1X or 2X
profile. I have not needed to do anything else for Win.

I run SM OS/2 without any addons. SM Win I let add Flash.

Works fine.

There are some other tricks but I have to go now.

Me too, if memory serves mine started with NS Communicator3 and grew
from there through the various flavours of NS/Mozilla , machines and
opsys's (win3.0 ---> winXP and os2 warp 3(red floppies)--->eCS112mr).

I am using SeaMonkey 2.0 and trying to add Lucide to handle .PDF content.

I go to Edit > Preferences > Browser > Helper Applications

According to the Help text, there should be a list of applications in the right
hand
pane, but it is blank. right and left clicking does nothing..

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Do you have http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/h-search.php?key=rws08dll installed?

I believe that is irrelevant; my list is empty too.

As far as not being able to add items; "the SeaMonkey 2 Helper Applications
panel
does not allow you to add a new file type, as you were able to do in SeaMonkey
1.x"

Seamonkey inherited the same limitations as Firefox in this area, and hasn't
fixed
them yet. It may be addressed for version 2.1.

I thought the empty page had been fixed quite a while ago.
You are right, there doesn't seem to be a way to add helper
applications. 2.1a1pre just has a lot more in the list then a 2 month
old build here.
The applications in the list can be changed and that includes PDF in
2.1a1pre

Thing is that with rws08 installed then clicking a pdf should
automatically use whatever the WPS is configured to use, at least it
does here. Also at that time I do get a choice that includes other and
a box to enter the path to what ever you want to use.

Hello all,

When I try to go to Facebook, I get a dialog that says, "You have chosen
to open: application/vnd.wap.xhtml+xml from http://m.facebook.com" and
asks what to open it with or if I want to save it.

Is there a fix?

Thanks,

Stu Updike

There were similar complaints on the newsgroup. See

I'd also try clearing your cache
