Got me... I just install and fix computers; I don't play with them. :-)
The last I heard of Second Life, a couple was getting divorced over some
virtual affair the husband was carrying on while online. Seems a little
over-the-top for my taste...

It sounds like fun, but I'm too busy with my first life.

Niel and Lewis,

I am not expert on Second Life, but I think we could have our own "world"
and we could make it seriously about OS/2 or we could mix in some silliness
if we want to.

That sounds cool to be able to either attend in person or virtually.
It would open it up to even more people; like those overseas. :)

I have tried Second Life with a non-eCS computer and it
was kinda dull. I was trying the free version.

I like the serious with a little bit of silly.
I think the little bit of silly would add a
little bit of fun.

After seeing this post, I went to the WebSite and there are no
concrete details posted. The Fact Sheet Index has not links, the
location page states "placeholder"

Where can any details be found on the accommodations? I would like to
know what the accommodations are, before I decide which option to
take? Generally my wife accompanies me on these treks, as we use it
as a way to take a little vacation either before or after. The dearth
of details makes it hard to make decisions and there are only 6 weeks
until the end of Registration. Also I can not find any details on the
number and type of sessions. I think some of these details should be
posted prior to or at least along with the opening of registration.

Cheers.

Hello Eric,

Have you visited the site?

I went there yesterday and registered, no big deal. I am also taking my
wife and made provisions for her on that site.

Howdy Zoltan,

Yes I did visit the various sites, which is why I commented. While
the registration has prices, it has no details. What are the
accommodations like? Single, doubles, en-suite, etc.. Some details on
the meals would be appreciated. In these uncertain economic times I
would like to know a little more before I shell out the $$$.

BTW,

I see that the location page has now been created. This is exactly
the type of information I would have expected to be available before
the registration was opened :->

Hello Eric:

I highlighted Redondo Village in Mozilla,
selected web search from the RMB menu and found:

    http://housing.unm.edu/home/dorms/redondo.htm

Maybe this link could be added to the WarpStock
2009 info page...

I've edited Chuck's work to include the link.

Good suggestion, Mark, and good suggestions (with handy info) are
*always* appreciated. ;-)

Is it too late to cancel? I have been in bigger jail cells! :-) I
would not want to stay there with my wife. Is there accommodations for
couples with private bath rooms?

Regards,
Zoltan

I will email you off-list, Zoltan, & we'll get things set to your liking.
No problem. We aim to please!! :-)

There are no separate apartments available on campus, but there are several
options just off-campus, & shuttles are available for most.

Which is exactly why I wanted some details before I decide on where
to stay. The torment my wife would put me through, if I made her stay
in a 9x12 room just gives me cold clammy shivers :-> While I love her
dearly, her idea of roughing it, is when there is only 1 outlet in
the hotel bathroom for her plugin devices. Additionally we are both
a bit old for the shared suite style of accommodations.

I don't see any link yet. I'd like to sign up to come. Is it happening?
Previous posts suggest we are in prison cells; are the cells larger
or smaller than last year? Do we have details of presentations yet?
Details how to reach facility from Airport? Connectivity info in
the cell? Celebratory dinner? Fun event? (I still remember the
wonderful time at the Colorado museum.)

OK I see it now; I got spooked by the non-link at Fact Sheet.

Do I understand that I won't need to rent a car this year but
will be able to take the Sunport Shuttle? I expect to arrive
on the 6th at 3:57 p.m. from Bangkok (God and swine flu
willing in that order). Anyone else arriving around that time
to share a shuttle with? Do we have to reserve the shuttle
in advance?

Tks to all of you and I look forward to seeing you

The original registration deadline for Warpstock 2009 has been extended
to midnight, July 7. As we are under a strict contract to provide
attendance numbers to the University, we cannot accept registrations
beyond that date.

It has long been the goal to announce the following years Warpstock
location at the final session. This year we have tentatively
succeeded. The announcement was made at the final session that the
board has tentatively accepted the bid for the University of Waterloo,
Waterloo Ontario Canada. The University of Waterloo, near Kitchener,
has long had an OS/2 presence. At this time we will still welcome bids
for consideration at other locations, though we will only consider bids
that include full cost analysis (cost of meeting rooms etc.) and not an
intent to bid. The Warpstock Board will make a final vote on September
15. I apologize for getting this out so late but have been swamped
catching up at work after taking the time off for Warpstock.
