I have been asked to do a new website, and the site-owner had
MS-FPage-Extensions installed. But I have only used WS_FTP for all my
work, and am not excited about trying to get, install and then learn
MS-FrontPage. The site will be small and uncomplicated, so I know that
WS_FTP will serve.
The standard instructions for MS-FP caution about the hazard of going in
with WS_FTP for uploading - but don't say you cannot. (In fact a
google-search gave me several help-sites which told which things you should
do using WS_FTP.)
So a few questions:
1) Can the existence of the MS-FPage-Extensions be ignored if they are not
to be used? Will the site with only static pages and images remain fully
functional?
2) What's the "FP-recovery" like, if I or someone else later wants to move
over to MS-FPage-Extensions and indeed WS_FTP had messed something up
which has to be fixed? I kinda' understand that the ISP simply
"re-installs" the extensions.
3) Any specific tricks or cautions on the very-first login with WS_FTP?
