Another alternative is Netscape's email client. Although it's slightly more
difficult to use ( depends on who you ask ) you veer away
from the whole Microsoft trojan/worm/virus/ issues that seem to transpire
almost weekly.
As far as disinfecting goes, I either use Mcafee.com's online subscription
service or go to symantec.com and run their free virus cleaning software.
Either way works well.
