Re: [Wide_Inkjet_Printers] Centering issues on the Z3100 44" printers

Ernst,
Your so kool.. You have tech knowledge plus common sense.. I know this is gonna
sound weird ..but ...thanks for you just being who you are.. I really mean
that..
OK
In some ways I think were all kinda lazy or maybe we don't know how to read
directions or simply understand what were being told.. All these printer guys
have "clearly" communicated that they require a specific margins.. Aka left ,
right, top and bottom.. The numbers have been given to us and that's not an
accident.. So what's wrong is that thier vision of a margin and our vision of
being centered just don't line up....Kapish? If we use their margin criteria we
can make our prints come out right where we want them. however we don't seem to
listen .. do we?. But that means we have to get off our can and do a bit of
math.. Sorry that's what it is at this point in time. If you don't factor in the
required borders you just can't get what you want. So you could have it be about
them...as in Epson .. or you could own it.. until they get to the other side I
suggest you choos eto own it.
The option is .. simple.. if you choose to not do all the math and make it work
out.. Trim your prints after you've ran them.. I go both ways I do the silly
math .. when I do it my prints are right where I want them... When I'm lazy
...which is most of the time.. and the print I have has a bit of space on the
paper footprint.. well I just use my Dahle guillietin cutter to get me back
where need to be.

Ok so in summary.. This post sort of to me in summary is kind of about some
short comings in software ..right? Well my dilema is that I'm in the present and
have to get a job done. So teh software will always be some amount of time
behind me.. Were all moving pretty fast right now.. Almost a blur I'd say.. If
you miss a month you could be on the outside lookin in.. Do what you can to
make it work..then give it away..Thru that the tools you seek will show up.

jimbo

There is of course the difference in print margins, the trailing edge of
a sheet needs more margin. Different image sizes will need different
compensations to get centered on a sheet that will not be cut later on.
The image can not be larger than the paper transport length in the
printer minus 2x the trailing edge print margin if it has to be centered
on that dimension. The smaller the image the more compensation has to be
added at the font edge.

With the Z3100 the "Skew Check Off" method and register tabs at the
front assure better repeatable sheet positions than possible with the
"Skew Check On" loading. If the sheet positions are more consistent you
can set the center position of the image. Then adjust according to a
first proof print. Then save that as a template for that size. At least
that is quite easy with Qimage.
