Dear Ernst, Mrjimbo, Jesse and Edwin.
Thank each of you for your wise and effective advice.
Ernst you were correct, turning the skew off and one other adjustment solved my
problem.
Here were my steps for anyone else with a similar issue:
Turn Skew Off on the actual Z3100 menu
In CS4 in Page Setup
Format Z3100
Paper size (enter size)
Select Print
Check the "center print" box
Click on Print
Print Window opens
Select Type/Quality
I was printing with SHEETS not rolls
(Make proper paper type selection)
Layout Window
Print w/margins
Select CLIP CONTENTS
Change from the default of Oversize
Click Print
A couple of notes:
I was printing on sheets not roll paper
You must go through these steps each time you print a new sheet of paper. Watch
this in the Layout Window especially.
I was unable to save any information as a "default" setting maybe its a Mac
thing, maybe its my computer, so each time I was starting from scratch except
for the Skew Off setting on the printer.
Good luck if something here is not clear or does not work for you, please
contact me.
Thank you all again, especially Ernst - YOU ROCK!
Best,
Patrick

There is of course the difference in print margins, the trailing edge of
a sheet needs more margin. Different image sizes will need different
compensations to get centered on a sheet that will not be cut later on.
The image can not be larger than the paper transport length in the
printer minus 2x the trailing edge print margin if it has to be centered
on that dimension. The smaller the image the more compensation has to be
added at the font edge.
With the Z3100 the "Skew Check Off" method and register tabs at the
front assure better repeatable sheet positions than possible with the
"Skew Check On" loading. If the sheet positions are more consistent you
can set the center position of the image. Then adjust according to a
first proof print. Then save that as a template for that size. At least
that is quite easy with Qimage.
