Folks, Friends, Commiserates,
Bad news: The server on which MeatballWiki was hosted had a system
failure that resulted in the file system crashing, taking down the
sites:
* MeatballWiki
* UseModWiki
* The Design Bibliography
UseModWiki and the Design Bibliography have been restored (seemingly).
MeatballWiki's Postgres database was corrupted, and remains down for
the moment.
Good news: Chris Purcell has been working tirelessly to get it back up
and running while I have been on vacation in India. For that, my
deepest thanks go out to him. He has succeeded in getting a version of
the site dated from August 2 (the last backup that succeeded)
functioning, and we have Google cached versions of most pages edited
subsequently (all but four English pages; we're missing the French and
copy edited pages).
We'll be flipping it live just as soon as we're sure it's safe. It
should be ready by WikiSym, if all things go well.
I'll notify you again once it's ready. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Not the best timing, but these things happen. Thankfully we have a
fairly recent backup.
Best,
Sunir (currently in Mumbai; I'll be in Copenhagen tomorrow.)
