It all depends on what caused your failure. Windows XP boot
disks are available from
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
from which you can get up and running in order to make your
repairs. It could take some registry editing (but only if you're
sure about what you're doing), msconfig (to load without
damaged components), or even a re-install if your .exe's or .dll's
got damaged.
Better yet, you might realize what a joke Windows is and load
Linux instead. Or FreeBSD. Or Solaris-86. Or OpenBSD. Or . . .
