I am in Australia visiting our son and his family until Nov 5 and I am
without my source materials until then. Can anyone help Debby? There are
17 Friends of Bayside groups of various parks here in the Bayside
area (population 92,000) of Melbourne that remove invasives and plant
native Australian plants. Each has a schedule such as the second Saturday
of the month 9am to 1pm. The government itself routinely advises people to
plant native plants.

Mark,
The question below was submitted to the Alliance, but no one here can ID
the plant in the photo. We are all "hands-on " and have a hard time with
just a picture. Can you help?

Hi --
I am trying to identify the following plant for some friends on the Wye
River. The stem shaft is actually hollow and dry (tube'ish).
I'd also say it's all between 3 and 4 ft. high.
It is invading their shore grasses and the stems snap easily when
they try to remove it. Any information on the identification and
eradication process would be appreciated.
Thank you.
