I notice that a trip to Dolly Sods is projected for Oct. 1-2. That is
also the date for Maryland Native Plant Society's annual conference,
which will be held in the Baltimore area this year: talks Saturday
morning, probably at Oregon Ridge, followed by Saturday afternoon and
Sunday all-day field trips. Sunday trips do not require conference
registration and are free.
I'd be glad to have your suggestions for field trips. So far, Cris
Fleming has agreed to lead one to Soldier's Delight, and Dwight Johnson
will lead one either along the Gunpowder or to the serpentine area in or
near Robert E. Lee Park.
Also, MNPS member Dorion Copiz has discovered a previously unknown
magnolia bog in Howard County behind the Patuxent Institution. Look for
an announcement of one or more field trips there - probably one during
the summer and one at the conference.
