BTW - I recently saw a plant of Polygonum virginianum which had red
flowers. I see that Cronquist says they can be "suffused with pink" so
maybe that is what they were. I'll have to go back and take a pic and
look at them a little more closely. There were a lot of other plants in
the same vicinity - but all the rest looked "normal."
