Yvonne's salvia became known on Gardenweb when it was offered gratis to any interested gardener, in order to preserve a strain found by Yvonne and maintained by her in her Massachussetts garden The seeds were given to Emily, who met Yvonne for the first time, in August 2004. Yvonne explained that she was getting too old to continue the line, and this was her last summer to grow them. The gift of seeds numbered in the thousands, and Emily couldn’t possibly use them all…so she offered the remaining seeds on Gardenweb, hoping someone else would also be interested in continuing the strain. The overwhelming response has resulted in seeds being distributed to almost every state. This group is open to any who received the seed and is willing to post about their experience with it.
