Senior Java Architect
Salary : $100,000+
Full-time or 6 mths Contract- hire.
Location : KC, MO

Knowledge of the following: Java, JSP/Servlets, EJBs, J2EE, JMS,
XML, Unix, MQ Series, HTML, and n-tier architecture.

Position Summary: Architect will provide technology leadership and
will be responsible for setting strategic direction by using business
and technologydrivers to determine how to apply technology across
the enterprise. The position is responsible for defining and
championing technology guiding principles; adopting effective
software engineering best practices; assisting/mentoring
development teams in architecting application
solutions; and leading cross-functional teams to provide component-
based
architecture solutions that facilitate reuse across the organization.

The Architect will stay in touch with software development industry
specialists and forums to bring knowledge and expertise into the
development teams. The Architect will also work with business
clients and the development teams to support all applications.

Skills/Knowledge Preferred:
Candidate will be fluent in current technology and products involving
both data and transactional brokering, have an in-depth n-tier
architecturebackground, and experience with systems integration
and design. Architect will understand all layers
(presentation/application/middleware). Knowledge
areas include n-tier application architecture, component-based
development, J2EE, and database technology.

Knowledge/Skills:
Required:
BS in computer engineering or science, or equivalent experience.
8 or more years experience in software systems engineering with
increasing levels of responsibility and working with a wide array of
technologies.
. Extensive background in object-oriented analysis and design
(OOA&D) using
Unified Modeling Language (UML) notation and design patterns,
component-based development, and the Rational Unified Process
(RUP).
. Knowledge of the following: Java, JSP/Servlets, EJBs, J2EE,
JMS, XML,
Unix, MQ Series, HTML, and n-tier architecture.
Preferred:
. MS in computer-related field.
. Expertise in the following tools: TogetherJ Control Center and/or
Rational Rose, Rational ClearCase and/or CVS.
. Exceptional written/oral/interpersonal communication skills and
ability
to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
In Addition:
. Highly self-motivated and needs minimum supervision.
Demonstrated project lead experience with the ability to develop,
plan,
and manage implementation of activities for complex projects.
Ability to develop prototypes to prove Architecture
recommendations.
