I'd recommend scanning manually with AVG instead of daily scanning. Then you
can just pick your moment when you want to scan. Daily scanning certainly
has an effect on performance while you're working on it, even if you have a
dual or quad core processor.
You can switch off automatic daily scanning in AVG:
Tools - Advanced settings -Schedules -Scheduled scan - remove the checkmark
for 'Enable this task'. Click Apply and OK.
