Description

The AbsIntelAgent egroup is an open cross-disciplinary discussion forum focused on the theoretical aspects of an intelligent entity independently on its application domain, physical or software realization and social role. The foundation goal of the Abstract Inteligent Agent egroup can be viewed from two different perspectives.

In the engineering perspective, the idea of AIA leads to the model-based design of reasoning, mentally autonomous modules with capacity of learning and modification of their own preferences/goals.
Application domains are numerous, from information search agents, highly autonomous robots or other knowledge based systems, to such industrial software as intelligent plant operator support systems, intelligent management decision support, intelligent conceptual design support, intelligent tutoring systems, intelligent cooperation/coordination software tools.
All these systems in autonomous way support humans in specification and solving of complex, incomplete and ill-defined problems referred to the real physical and web worlds. AIA models should be the key theoretical conceptualization for the above tasks.

In the socio-cognitive perspective AIAs can be considered as abstract conceptual frames for explanation of the behavior of humans and intelligent organizations. They can provide an ontological and terminological bridge between natural (evolution) and artificial (designed) systems, for their simulations, teaching, diagnosis or treatment. These applications should be interesting for psychology, sociology, organization research and economy.
From the socio-cognitive point of view an AIA should represent the model of abstract goal-oriented rational intelligence modified by some emotional mechanisms (a personoid). AIA is a key concept in the Meta-Knowledge Research, Engineering & Management, as well as for Meta-System Engineering (http://erg4146.casaccia.enea.it)[Adam Maria Gadomski,Sep 8, 1998].
