1. TINA'S BLOG:
================================

Well I've been having a fine time these past few
months. What with my hosting problems and a
few virtual parties.

This issue has been delayed somewhat while
that's been going on then I decided to try and
learn CSS and apply it to the new online version
of this Journal, tell me what you think.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year -
hopefully.

First about the hosting. I've had six yes you read
that right the first time, six hosts in the past
five months.

My first host had a stroke (Hope your doing
better Jim). He resold for CIS and they also
decided at the same time to shut down and
outsource. So I started up at their new servers
which were UNIX, now having started off at
easyspace.com a couple of years ago I knew
UNIX does not like FrontPage sites that are
heavy in mbs. At around 30mbs even my new
hosts could not stop the error messages and
decided I would be better off on their old
windows servers till I could find a new host, after
all they were not shutting down till January, but
forget to tell me the nice new high price. So I
moved to webstrikesolutions.com and they were
great only $30 for the first year. However only
2gb for bandwidth and for some reason my site
has started to grow in the hits department so I
ended up paying for another 2gb of bandwidth
last month. Sigh, time to move again.

This time off to chambergates.com after a list of
things going wrong there like no setup for five
days, no emails being answered for seven and I
could not publish without timeouts, I decided I
would have to look again for host number six.
Chambergates came good in the end though
they refunded all my host fee and my setup fee
all ended well apart from the headaches I was
getting from the stress!

Now I'm at http://winsave.com the best host I've
had since Jim. Welcome email after five
minutes, fast publishing, unlimited bandwidth,
databases even, asp the best control panel with
great faqs and a very neat site and what's best a
rolling promotion (though it could end at any
time) for no setup fee with one month free, so for
my first three months hosting I get to host my
site for the grand sum of $19:95. Thankyou
winsave I can now relax, Sigh!

Though there two things that I don't like. No
custom 404 page and the stats are not the best
but you cannot have everything.

Now on to the good bit:) The virtual parties we
had at anyfronpage.com , accessfp's sister site
which I co-edit with Tiffany and Fran. We had
two parties one for the first birthday of
AnyFrontPage Bytes Ezine 11th Oct. The
second in honour of Tiffany being made a
Microsoft MVP - FrontPage. A fine time was had
by all and you can read more about the parties here:
http://anyfrontpage.com/mvp/
http://anyfrontpage.com/afpparty2002/

We also decided to cut down the ezine to once
a month instead of bi-weekly, but that is so we
can bring you more goodies next year, we are
working on them:).

DID YOU KNOW... that AccessFP Journal can
now be read online? Just pop along to:
http://accessfp.net/accessfpjournal/

Did you also know that AccessFP Journal
has it's own FrontPage List? No? Well check it out.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AccessFPList

BTW if you link your site to mine let me know
you might get featured in the linkback section. If
you have a FrontPage crafted site check out
the, Crafted With FrontPage section.
http://accessfp.net/submitcraftedwithfrontpage.htm

I had to take down the Crafted section at one
point as it was getting spammed, and has been
over the past year. So I finally decided enough
as enough and I've changed it so that would be
crafters have to submit an email, instead of
being able to see their site instantly. The few
spoil it for the many I'm afraid. If you want your
site included read the rules and send me an
email.

That's all folks till next publish. Remember I
only publish when I've updated the site and have
something to say. No fixed publish times. If you
want to give me feedback about the Journal or
just ask a question email me at:
journal@...

3. FEATURED IN ACCESSFP
================================

The featured page this issue is
http://accessfp.net/generationtools.htm

This page leads to four generation tools for your
use which is FREE. (You can see them listed
above under new pages)
Flash, Graphic and dhtml-css generators and
JavaScript/css coders. These tools make it easy
to craft those difficult menus and saves time
looking on various sites for information on just
how to do it.

Saving time makes you money and eases the
frustration of crafting those scripts.

4. TIP & TRICK
================================

COPYRIGHT AND FRONTPAGE

-Updating your copyright dates for the new year
with FrontPage.

If any of you have copyright meta tags.

e.g. <meta name="copyright"
content="Copyright © 1999 - 2002, Tina Clarke.
All rights reserved">

The quickest and easiest way to update them is
to use the Free FrontPage Add-on TP_ErrOmi
from http://solution-shelf.com You enter the info
you want and test your web. ErrOmi will tell you
all the pages where it needs changing (which is
all of course)

NOTE: Unless you have excluded the page, it
will update any of your customised templates
for new pages too.

If you also have the copyright on the page in
normal view, use Find and Replace to change
this throughout your web.

How to Find and replace text.

On the Edit menu, click Replace.
Click All pages.
In the Find what box, type the text you want to
search for. - This will be the old copyright dates.
In the Replace with box, type the replacement
text. - This will be in the new copyright dates.
Click Find in Web.
When FrontPage lists the pages in which the
text was found, do one of the following:

To open a page in Page view, double-click the
page in the list. The first instance of the text is
highlighted.

You can click Replace to replace this
occurrence, click Find Next to find the next
occurrence, or click Replace All to replace all
occurrences in the current page.

When you have reviewed all occurrences of the
text in the page, you are prompted to close the
current document before continuing to the next
one.

NOTE: If changes were made, your page is
automatically saved.

Though next revamp think about using either an
include page ( For how accomplish this see:
http://accessfp.net/frontpageincludedcontent.htm )
that might include other static information (for
most of the year) like your email address and
links to disclaimers and Privacy Polices.
Or the substitution feature which will update a
small amount of information.

How to use the Substitute Component.

In Page view, on the Tools menu, click Web
Settings, and then click the Parameters tab.
Click Add.
In the Name box, type a name for the variable.
This is what you will call the variable.

In the Value box, type a value for the variable.
This is what will be displayed on the page.

Click OK.
Position the insertion point in a page where you
want to display the variable.
On the Insert menu, click Web Component.
In the left pane, click Included Content, and in
the right pane, double-click Substitution.
In the Substitute with box, click a variable from
the list.

You can find out more about Copyright here:
