Hi guys,

Thanks for reporting this! We fixed it, the next version won't update
amount if existing transaction is split.

Hi John,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention!

Yes, this is a bug and we fixed it. The next version will treat a
cash portion of your partial reinvest transaction as deposit.

As a workaround today I would recommend you to use two transactions:
just "dividend" and them "buy shares", this should fix the problem.

Subject: Currency problem when importing QIF
thomasstraten

Hi everybody.

I found the following problem (maybe not a real problem but something
to mention).

I was a Quicken user until 1995 when I started with Money (Spanish)
and got along up to now ending with Money 2006 (English).
But I need a Spanish program, so AceMoney was the choice!!!

I made a (loose QIF) export from an account in Money 2006, and
everything went OK.

In AceMoney, I
- created a new account when importing the QIF file (all defaults
kept). This account is in CLP (Chilean pesos)
- saved the new .mmw file
- Import ended perfectly, no problems at all

BUT:
That account had transfers, thus Acemoney created the additional
account with all transfers (nothing else as I did not export that
particular account in QIF from Money).
The problem is that that account is in USD (values are ok tho).
So I need to go to the properties of that account, change the currency
to from USD to CLP and say "NO" to the offering of updating the
currency (USD -> CLP).
Then, i have everything allright..

I tried another import in QIF format with an account that was making
transfers to 5 different accounts. They were all created in Acemoney
with the correct values BUT all in USD, so I have to do the same
procedure for each one.

I would suggest perhaps that, if the account (originating the QIF
file) is in a foreign currency, ALL transfer accounts created
automatically have to be created in that particular currency. The user
would have less work to do as probably he would have less "other"
currencies than the imported one.

In my case, CLP is "my" normal currency for my jobs BUT i have my
personal stuff where I am using CLP (12 accounts) and EUR (3 accounts)
If I wish to export everything to Acemoney, I will have the USD
problem mentionned hereabove... (little grin).

By the way, is it possible to make a little more "room" for the
amounts in the reports? It is all right for USD or EUR but not for CLP
(1 USD = 650 CLP so we need at least room for amounts like 999,999,999
CLP in each column. (no decimals used in CLP).

I am very happy to be the owner (yes, I bought it!!!) of Acemoney,
keep up with the splendid job.
I will give some Excel tricks that could be helpful if people wants to
use pivot tables with the csv or txt data from acemoney... hope people
will enjoy them

Regards
Tom

Hi Terry,

Your suggestions sound reasonable. Could you please provide two-three
sample investments (funds and stocks) provided by MSN Money UK?

Also, if possible I'd like to see a sample CSV file that you will be
importing into AceMoney.

Thank you,

I found the file, but it seems to reset the values for the widths
everytime i open it.

When i change the widths in the program and then close it down, i can
check the values in the config.ini file and they are the new wider
values. However, as soon as i open Acemoney back up the column widths
revert to these 'default' values. any idea how i can stop this happening?

BTW the config.ini file's location is:

AppData\Roaming\MechCAD\AceMoney

is this correct that its in roaming?

You need to one transfer transaction instead of one withdrawal and one
deposit.

Usually you have a separate credit card account and record all credit
card transactions as withdrawal into it. At the end of the cycle you
have some negative balance on this account. As soon as you get a
statement you reconcile transactions, write a check and record is as a
transfer from checking account to the credit card account. If you are
paying the statement in full, the balance on the card account should
become zero, unless you already recorded new transactions which are
not in the statement.

Hi Pete,

Thank you for the information! Unfortunately we still can't reproduce
the problem. Could you please contact our support server at
http://support.mechcad.net and submit %TEMP%\AceMoney.log file?

Your config file is in the right place, it is the same place that I
mentioned in my other e-mail (%APPDATA%\MechCAD\AceMoney\config.ini).
APPDATA is an environment variable usually pointing to C:\Users\<your
account>\AppData\Roaming.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the feedback! Your qif related suggestions sound very
reasonable, but unfortunately cannot be implemented because qif file
itself doesn't specify currency neither for the account, nor for the
transfer. I hope that changing the currencies of the automatically
created accounts is not a big deal, because you are doing it only
once, during initial setup.

Hi,
Consider the example:
Catergory: Groceries
Budgetted period: 1 week
Budget limit: $70

By simple maths, this would mean $10 for Groceries per day or $70 for 7
days. If you run a report say for example Groceries expenses from 12th
Jan to 18th Jan (7days), the budgeted amount shows $60 whereas it
should show $70 as I have selected 7 day period. Please correct me if I
have missed something. Cheers!

Dear Team,
In account view, totals are generally wrong and do not recalculate upon ordering
by a
column, say, by number, or payee.
And please make more room for printing as we need at least space for 999,999,999
and -
999,999,999 ( no decimals, but could be used).
Perhaps also another font size selection???

Totals appear sometimes wrong in adding a new transaction, but after it seems
ok, tho.
I am experiencing this with lots of input with same date but different
transaction numbers.

Could it be possible to have the cursor in the Number field instead of the
Payee? We
would only need Tabs to move in other fields instead of havin always to make a
shift-tab
to put my transaction number ( i don't have automatic numbering activated)

Thanks a lot

Hi Tom,

Yes, and they should not be recalculated. Total represents your
account balance on the specific date, it should not change when you
sort transactions by payee or category.

We will improve printing in the future, as a workaround you can export
data to csv or html file with File->Export, open the export file with
Excel or Internet Explorer and print from there.

> Totals appear sometimes wrong in adding a new transaction, but

I believe the reason is the same as above: try to sort transactions by
date and only then total will match your expectations.

Most of our users leave Number field empty, this would create
inconvenience for them. We might make default field of the transaction
dialog configurable in the future releases.

Dear Alex

I've used the registered version of AceMoney since 2005 and find it a must
have piece of software. I have noticed that when running under XP the
program shows the update progress of stocks during the update process.
However, this nice function does not seem to work under Vista. Namely the
update process freezes the screen until all stocks have been updated. Is
there any chance of improving the Vista interface for the next update?

Many thanks

After saving the current file as a new name, the name in the title bar
remains the same as the name of what was the current file, so it is
impossible to tell if modifications to the file currently open will be
made to the 'new' file or the 'old' file.

I do a 'Save As' at the end of a calendar year to create a new file for
the new calendar year and then proceed to delete all transactions,
etc., so the problem does not create too much of a problem, since I can
close the current file then open the new file, but it would be good to
know which file AceMoney was referring to after a 'Save As'.

Also, for a new file, I would like the ability to delete prior entries
in the 'Num' field. I sthere any way of doing this?

Here's some info from the help file about the archive function:

Archive dialog can be invoked using File->Archive menu item. The dialog
box allows to pick a date and check if AceMoney should delete archived
data from the currently loaded file. Depending on the value of that flag,
AceMoney will copy or move data from the past until the selected date
(including that date) to the separate archive file. Once you click Ok,
AceMoney will display standard file save dialog and you would have to
enter the name of the archive file.

Archives are saved as mmw files, so they can be opened later as regular
data files using File->Open. When AceMoney saves data to archive, it
writes only the information relevant to the archived transactions. For
instance, if archive doesn't have any transactions that use category
"Food:Groceries", this category won't be written to archive. The same rule
applies to accounts, payees, transaction categories and investments.

AceMoney never copies future bills or deposits to archive.

If you checked an option to delete archived data from the file, then
AceMoney will modify initial balances on all the accounts that had
transactions in the archived period. For instance, if the last day in
archive is December 31, 2006 and balance on the account at the end of that
day was $1000.00, then initial balance will be set to $1000.00 in order to
make up for the removed transactions.

Since investment transactions are moved from the current document to
archive, investment purchase history may be lost. AceMoney will
automatically add "Add shares" transactions on the last day of archive
plus one (January 1, 2007 for the example above). The number of added
shares will be the same as number of shares that you had before archiving
data. Since old transactions don't exist anymore, AceMoney won't be able
to determine the actual cost of investments and gain values on Portfolio
Page may change. It will look like you just received a lot of shares as a
gift with zero cost associated with it.

Thanks,
Jeremy Landes

there a way to set AM to go to the web by opening Firefox?

Thanks,
Bob G.
