The problem is that Classic ASP is a dead language in the eyes of most web
developers and therefor Businesses.
There's just SO much more you can do with .NET vs Classic ASP it's not even
funny. .NET just as SO much
more power to what you want, how you want.. and it's much simpler (and
faster I might add) then Classic ASP.
I've gone the route of a Classic ASP developer to a ASP/VB.NET developer so
I've had to make the switch myself.
it's easy.. and hard at the same time. with .NET you arn't dealing with a
'top-down' approach anymore, you're codeing
more like a full windows based app. If you know a little about OOP
programming and/or writting full client based apps
then the transfer isn't hard in the least.
as for getting started, M$ has released Visual Studio Express (VB, C#, and
the Web Developer edition) for free.
you can just download that, along with the framework if you don't already
have it, and hit a website for your
favorite 'Hello world!' app. =)
