Dear Mortals,
I, The Keeper of the List, have updated the sacred list. It is
available for worship here:
http://www.everythingisnt.com/hosts.html
It fixes a problem with what your mortals call "ebay." It also adds
more of these "servers" which cause you so much annoyance.

Arr Mateys!
I have caught many white whales from the sea you landlubbers call the
internet. I also, with a heavy heart, have removed many dead whales
that no longer serve ads. They were worthy foes. A tear is running
down my eye-patch.
Updated hosts file and installer are here:
http://www.everythingisnt.com/hosts.html
I'm also happy to see that this group has broken past 1,000 members!
Mike
P.S. Consider donating. There's a paypal donate button on the
webpage. If one out of 1,000 users of this hosts file gave between 2
and 5 dollars it would pay for my web hosting fees and make up for all
the time I spend doing free tech support and maintaining the high
quality of this list.
I removed the duplicates, added a bunch of new ad servers, and removed
a couple ad servers that were causing problems (for myway.com and
eetimes.com). Enjoy.

Hey everyone,
I had to remove one ad server that was causing trouble and added a
dozen or so more. Spread the word, send me ad servers, etc you guys
know the spiel by know.

Also, I just learned a neat trick. If you're running the squid web
proxy it recognizes the system hosts file and blocks ads for everyone
who uses the proxy. That must be a massive bandwidth saver for a
large LAN using squid. Also, I think the IPCOP firewall works with my
hosts file too.
Enjoy your new year!

I've removed an ad server causing problems and addded a whole bunch of
new ad servers, many asian. The list is very US centric and I hope to
work on this in the future.
I also updated the FAQ and have a donations button the website.

Enjoy,

Hey Everyone,
I updated the hosts file and the installer. I also removed a couple
ad servers that were delivering normal content. Enjoy, pass the word
around, and keep those adservers coming.

Hey everyone,
I updated the hosts file and fixed the problems with time.com. I also
fixed a couple errors on the webpage. Have at it.

Hey Everyone,
I added more ad servers and fixed the issue with dogpile.com not
working. I also changed the 127.0.0.1's to 0.0.0.0. It seems faster
and won't fill up web logs if you're running a web server.

It looks like I broke salon.com's free daily pass, but this version
removes the block that was causing the problem. I also added a few
more ad servers. Enjoy your free content.

Hey everyone,
I updated the hosts file tonight. I removed a .com.com server that
was affecting content. What's with .com.com domain anyway? Sounds
like a dot come with more money than sense.
Also, I'm serving text ads on the site. Now that you've recovered
from your faint spell here's why: (from the FAQ)
What's with the Google text ads?
This is my small way of encouraging web advertisement that doesn't
violate your privacy, isn't distracting, doesn't waste bandwidth, and
might actually be useful because of the contextual nature of Google
ads. You can click on a few to help pay for hosting if you want to
thank me for running this project for the last couple years.
Enjoy and spread the word.

Hey Everyone,
Huge update tonight. I added a bunch of new ad servers, blocked some
spyware sites (I accidentally clicked on that Xupiter nonsense and now
am delivering the smackdown), and removed a click-through site that
was causing some problems.
Have at it:

Spread the word. Ad blocking is the new religion, dontcha know?

Ia added a bunch of ad servers and removed "service.bfast.com" because
it was breaking various "deals on the web" sites.
Enjoy and have a happy 4th.

This months update is more than a bit late, but only a few people were
sending me new adservers and I only found so many; but enough to make
a new update. So...
Come and get it!

Spread the word and keep those ad servers coming.

Hey everyone,
Big update today. I removed all the duplicates, special thanks to Paul
Labuda for his help. I noticed that alot of the dupes were servers that
were submitted. If you're going to submit please make sure you're using the
newest copy of the hosts file. Thanks to everyone whose submitted servers
regardless of dupes.

Keeper of the list? I crack myself up sometimes.
Hey Everyone,
I just added a few more ad servers to the list. Special thanks to Matt
Craig for most of these. Also, I noticed that some atomfilms.com movies
will not play unless you remove or comment out ad.doubleclick.net. I'm not
going to remove it from the list, but I did put a comment in the hosts file
so everyone would know. The problem I noticed was using MS media player to
watch .avi encoded movies. Atomfilms will not play the feature unless the
commercial finishes first.
Feel free to report any other problems or ad servers to my hotmail address.

Hey everyone,
I added a couple new ad servers to the list and removed one that was causing
problems with wired.com. Also, anyone willing to write a script that will
churn out a mac version? I think its just missing CNAME in the middle.
