Hi Debby,
I don't think you mentioned if you turned off the printer for a while,
then turned it back on. Sometimes this can recycle the circuitry, and
solve the problem - but maybe not. Just a suggestion.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions

I joyfully upgraded to Indd CS4 and expected to be able to create EPUBs.
The results I get when I open my new EPUB in Indd are completely
unsatisfactory: alignment, margins,
cover image, etc.

QUESTION #1: Do I need a different application in order
to read the product?

QUESTION #2 Is there a location on the Adobe site (or anywhere else)
that will clarify how to turn an Indd
product into a viewable EPUB?

Hi everyone,

Just noticed something with InDesign CS3 since I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
Not sure maybe it's my error of accidentally clicking on something but this
is what's happening:

Before let's say I have a group of photos with the same size on InDesign on
a page, before I can just click on links, relink and select the new image to
replace that photo.

But now, when I do relink and change the photo, it changes all the photos.

Another thing is that I have two images that were placed. I had to make two
versions with changes to the image so: image-a.tif, image-b.tif

One is on page 3 and another on page 6. Usually, I can go to the one on
page six and change image-a.tif (which is on page 3) to image-b.tif and no
problems.

But now, when I relink the image, if I change an image on page 6, it changes
the image on page 3 despite the two having different names. Granted, the
easy fix is deleting the image and replacing it.

But I notice this is happening often since my upgrade to Leopard. Not sure
if it's Snow Leopard or I inadvertently clicked on something.

(note: I had issues with Adobe Photoshop CS3 also after upgrading to Snow
Leopard but I learned that fixing the problem was opening it without Rosetta
which fixed the problem. I used PS with Rosetta originally to access a
Twain device/my scanner)

Thanks in advance.

I'm familiar with the neeed to put text on a layer above images to prevent
the rasterised fat text problem, but what if the image is inline? Even on
the screen I can see it has been affected on those pages, and the image
(with a drop shadow) isn't overlapping it at all.

It's a book, so I don't want to change all the pics as I want them to flow
with the text if there are text changes.

Katherine,
Form what I've experienced, the text doesn't have to be on a layer,
but it needs to be brought to the front to avoid the fat text
phenomenon.

You can also view the areas where this will occur if you select Window
  > Output > Flattener Preview >. Once in there, you can choose
Highlight: Transparent Objects, then you can see where text crosses
those objects. You can view several other flattening issues from there
as well.

I hope this helps.

I tried Print Booklet in Indesign CS3 (Mac) and it worked fine. I was
able to get printer's spreads - 12-1, 11-2, 3-10 etc. for a 12 page
book. I printed it to a Pdf file so I could check it onscreen. I just
had to go to the print settings to make sure the printing options were
set correctly. Print Booklet also gives you a preview so you can see
your setup before printing, in my case I had marks and bleeds on a
17.5x11.5 page set up for tabloid.

A lot of us are p*ss*d at this situation! Even though sometimes InBooklet
could be weird, not having a basic imposing ability in InDesign CS4 is a
pain, to say the least.
If you are on a Mac, there is an app that can help, though. It's called
"Cheap Impostor" (terrible pun!) and although I haven't really tried it, it
looks very good.

You can find it at www.cheapimpostor.com or from the Apple Downloads page.
If you're on a PC, sorry this won't be of help.

In the Table Style, you link to Cell Styles, which in turn, are linked to
Paragraph Styles.

I usually create the Paragraph Style first, then the Cell Styles.
Some Cell Styles are created simply to link to the Paragraph Styles.
Everything gets put together in the Table Style.

Dear Louis,

Check the style of the paragraph where your table is resting, if you know what I
mean.

Search for styles that contain the font size and font type that appears to be
'fixed'.

David,

Yes, I did all that, but without success. I even used the example in the
Adobe Workshop book and it would not even change the fonts there if I first
made them a different size and font. SmartStyles does work, but I'd like to
avoid the expense of the addon. I have an example, but I don't believe the
site allows attachments.

disappointment. It looks to me a bit like someone left a raspberry
snowcone in the
sun and it spilled all over a really pedestrian page. I'm wondering if
anyone else feels the disappointment as keenly as I.

disappointed)

I am trying to use the DTP Naskh OT font in InDesign ME CS3. The problem we are
facing is that the tops of the vowels do not align flush to the top of the text
box. There is a small amount of white space that remains at the top of each
page. This is not a problem with the Lotus Linotype font which is always flush
to the top.

Can anyone help. Much appreciated.
