I have started reading your Book draft and am looking forward to
reading the entire thing. I think the subject of Estimating and
Planning is something that has been screaming for some work on it.
I am glad that you are undertaking that effort.
Here are my comments from Chapter 1,
Possible other reasons why Predictive plans fail:
- Estimates are very uncertain, however they are treated as gospel.
- Predictive plans often assume that no changes will occur in the
requirements for the project, the make up of the team, the speed in
which team members are able to develop code as heir learning
progresses.
You discuss in this chapter the problems with predictive planning as
a means to introduce agile planning and estimating. I think it
perhaps may be worthwhile to discuss the advantages of agile
planning in this chapter as well to provide more an introduction.
This introduction may be better suited for other chapters.
