Transcendence to a higher plane of existence..   Message List

Hey everyone, i just joined this group and have developed a great
interest in alchemy, which led me to hermetic philosophy etc (i've
been on a search for greater truth for awhile now, my first great
source of knowledge being
http://www.eoni.com/~visionquest/ )..anyways after reading the
emerald tablets of Thoth, and the Kybalion i've developed quite a
respect for it all. i came across a website for a spiritual group
called Summum http://www.summum.us/summum.html and have been looking
into that recently as well.

Now about this group, if you read about how this guy came about
founding this and whatnot, he supposedly had no knowledge of
hermetics or anything at the time. yet the book he wrote is
literally about %80 or so word for word the Kybalion. now he has
added on things to it that are good and make sense and everything.

My issue with them though is i've been posting on their board
discussing alchemy/hermetic philosophy, and the main moderator there
says that alot of hermetic philosophy is "dead text" and due to the
fact that everything changes isn't necessarily valid anymore.
furthermore it seems to be implied that transcending this plain of
existence through any other means then the ones said on their site
will lead you to reincarnation or whatever.

So on the one hand i'm finding this group to be very significant in
alot of ways, but on the other hand i've discovered too much
knowledge through hermetics/the alchemical process and alchemy
itself to think for a second that these things are an "invalid"
source of knowledge and application to spiritual evolution to
greater planes, among other things. so with that in mind i ask the
opinions/views of anyone out there with knowledge on any of these
subjects..
