re definately recommended. I am more into the
practical Alchemy myself. I see Alchemy as a
proto-Chemistry; one that has promising procedures forgotten
and/or obscured. What is your opinion on Alchemy - is a
a world view, psychology, Royal Art, metaphysics,
proto-chemistry? All of the above?
MM
unningham's work is good, but it depends a lot
on revisionist history for some of its content. Here
are some other texts that will round out the picture
for you:

Herbal Magick by Paul Beyerl [over
100 illos. great book]

Green Magic by Leslie
Gordon [more historical content and a lot on flower
languages; may be hard to locate]

Flower Cookery by
Mary MacNicol [history, lore, tons of old recipes...
wonderful adjunct for vegitarians but also a difficult to
find book]

The Herbal Arts by Patricia Telesco
[herb multipedia with gardening tips, cookery, folk
remedials, magic, recipes and more]

Jude's Herbal
[very down to earth -- not as heavy on the spiritual
side, but great information and recipes]

Hope
that helps.
here is a book out by Scott Cunningham (printed
by Llewellyn Publications) Called Magick Herbalism
(I think, Mine was stolen) however this book tells
what phases are good for what herbs and you can even
go so far as to calculate when would be optimal time
to plant what herbs.. It is an excellant book.. As
are all of the books by Mr Cunningham.. (In My
Opinion)
Hope this helps some..
Naea
i SD,
I have found the readings I do on
myself only help me clarify what I know is true..
Weather I want it to or not.. LOL I did a reading on
myself yesterday for the first time in eons.. (I have
had alot of unpleasent things happen recently).. and
it, of course, told me exactly what I need to do.. I
already knew that but wanted other options.. LOL no such
luck for now.. Thank goodness destiny isnt all
binding.. you still choose your own path.
As far as
Herbalism.. *Smile* I lean towards Tinctures and oils.. which
I make myself as often as possable.. I find myself
needing things for a normal first aid kit.. bug off
juice.. scrape stuff.. Lots'a blood stuff and Wow look at
that bruise pack.. LOLOL I have a system for naming
all of my mixtures.. and a colom next to the recipie
for notes as to how good/bad it worked.. So far, just
about everything has worked.. even for the
non-believers!! LOL
Blessings & Peace,
Naea
have been studying herbs for about 4 years
now.. I have found myself feeling better & having a
better outlook on life.. I originally began studying
because I was ill and no doctors could find anything
wrong.. I still dont know what be wrong.. however I do
know I feel better.. I must agree Greg, the study
encourages oneness with nature.. so as to better understand
the how/why of herbs..I have enjoyed helping others
with my knowledge.. It gives a warm fuzzy feeling when
you can help someone who needs it..
*Smile*
Blessings,
Naea
i JJ,

I agree with you about the Tarot
symbols being universal to a certain extent. There are
certain variations for some people (or groups). For
example, if you read Franz Bardon's books (he was a
Magic(k)ian and Qabalist), he uses swords to represent the
element of fire and wands to represent the element of
air, contrary to the generally accepted assignations.

I think that the drawings that are used in the
Tarot are mostly archetypal and strike our minds in
much the same way, which is really the beauty of the
Tarot I think.

I've SEEN you do the Tarot and I
know I'm nowhere near as good at it as you. I'm just
lately starting to feel that I'm beginning to get it...
my mind is finally pulling the individual pieces of
a layout into what feels like an actual
interpretation. It's a nice feeling. :-)

Alchemy
i Greg,

I read an article a while back on
'Alchemical Gardening' that was very interesting. I was
hoping to find it in the Alchemical Website, but it
doesn't seem to be there. I think it might have been in
'The Stone', which is the newsletter that is put out
by The Philosophers of Nature. According to the
article, the planting and harvesting times are very
important for maximizing the energetic properties of the
plants... things like phase of the Moon, and planetary hour
of the day.

Good luck with your herb
growing!

SD
i Naea,

Don't you find the Tarot to be a
wonderful tool for learning about yourself? I seldom do
readings for others, but I find the ones I do for myself
to be extremely useful.

What types of herbal
elixers and preparations do you make?

SD
i Trish,

It's a pleasure to have you with
us. I just took a look at your websites and they're
quite interesting! I haven't read any of your books
yet, but I'm going to keep an eye out for them. You
have some great topics!

SD
es I know what you mean -- not only that but
herbalism is addicting! One little project grows into a
whole room of goodies (oils, soaps, dry herbs, tools,
etc.)

Trish Telesco www.pce.net/ptelesco

have been doing a study on herbs and now I am ready to grow them. I find the
more I get into herbalism the more reverence I have for nature. Any others what
to share experiences.

Greg
i Everyone,
I have been studying the Tarot
for about 7 years now. I started with a generic non
discript deck.. and to be honest.. just read my own cards
for quite a few years.. Then someone I knew caught me
reading mine and asked for a reading.. It wasnt long
after that that my son went to school and told everyone
at school that I am a "Witch" Oh boy did I get a
laugh over that one.. (I have tryed to explaine Wicca
to him..) Within a few weeks.. I had 1/2 the town
coming to me for spells, readings, elixors, herbal
cures.. And everyone that I ran across told me that they
have been wanting to have thier cards read.. but didnt
know how to go about it.. Since that time.. I have
taken a few classes online. I have found that being an
empath also helps greatly when reading cards..

gt;I sorta figured you'd be using SOME kind of
GD deck. Can ANYONE buy one... or are they secret??
;)
>>You could buy one, but then the clerk would
>>have to kill you. ;-)

I'd forgotten about that
part. But.. would I die happy??

I believe the
symbols in the Tarot are Universal. To me.. their roots
go so deep into the human unconscious that no one
will ever really know their beginnings.

Heck..
you've been doing Tarot for 11 years.. off and on. YOu
should know them as well as I by now. I think you're
just modest.

L&L
reetings all. One of your members told me about
this site (with my thanks). I'm a wiccan/herbal author
and am trying to get closer to the metaphysical
community to better serve it. Besides dropping in at sites
like this regularly, I'm also setting up a place where
anyone can ask questions about my books and folk magic
methods.

for those of you who might find this interesting the
URL
is:

clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/folkmagicwithtrishtelesco

Please pass
this along to anyone who might be interestes
(esp. since herbs are HUGE in folk traditions
:)

Thanks much. Looking forward to seeing you guys

is quite public. The Waite deck and the Thoth deck
and many others had their roots in the Golden Dawn,

and expanded them to suit their ideas of the
symbolism in the Tarot.

The author of the Mythical

learning with one set of symbols. You've been at it long
enough that you can probably pick up any deck now and do
a great reading. I'm still learning though, so I'm
sticking with one deck for now. :-)

Alchemy
ave any of you had the opportunity to experience
both herbal tinctures and spagyric elixers? If so,
could you tell the difference?

For those who
are not familiar with Alchemy and Spagyrics, the
difference is that the alchemical mercury, sulphur and salt
are separated and recombined. This purifies the
elixer and raises it's vibrations, and allows it to
retain the spiritual properties of the herb, as well as
focussing its physical properties (which is what an herbal
tincture does). In a spagyric elixer, the mercury and
sulphur may not be separated from each other, but are
separated from the salt and recombined.

I'm
interested in hearing how people have experienced the
spiritual properties of the spagyric and alchemical
elixers.

SD
here's a Universal Waite Tarot Deck that I
discovered recently. It's based on the traditional deck but
the colors are so vibrant! I instantly bonded with
the deck. It's put out by U.S. Games Systems, INC.
Stanford, CT 06902 USA.

I heartily recommend it.
Blessed Be!
'm happy to be SEEN here! ;)

I sorta
figured you'd be using SOME kind of GD deck. Can ANYONE

sticking with the Waite deck.. but I also Love the Mythic
Tarot.. as YOU know.

There are many beautiful
decks out there.. but as a Tarot TEACHER.. I feel I
have to stick with one set of symbols. It gets too
confusing any other way.

Hugs to you too!

JJ
don't care WHAT type of Spiritual/Metaphysical work one does.. getting the ego
out of the way is the hardest.. and most important component.

Pleased to

recently took a class in tarot card
reading.
I do a daily, weekly, monthly and 5x5 spread
and
keep a log. As with most methods of divination I find
it quite difficult to move my ego out of the way so
I can stay objective. This wei wu wei aspect of
tarot I think is the hardest part. You?

(Pleased
to meet 'cha!) :)
'd like for everyone to feel free to post
whatever links you feel are relevant here.

Photos
would be great too. Post photos of yourself, your
laboratory, your herb garden, or whatever seems appropriate.
most heartfelt thank you for the invitation to
join your club. I am studying spiritual alchemy.
There's more than booklearning however and I look forward
to exchanging thoughts with like-minded individuals.
eel free to schedule chat times whenever you
want (try to remember to tell everyone what time zone
you're using). The chat rooms in the Yahoo! clubs seem
to be used rarely, and I'd like to see this one be
more active. If you are just hanging out near your
computer, try sitting in the club a bit and see if anyone
drops by to chat. Also, take a look and see if anyone
is in the chat room when you get into the club. I'll
look for chatters anytime I enter the club and drop in
for a visit.

Since this is a brand new club,
it may take a while to build up a membership, so
hang in there.

Shadowdanz
