Hi,

I was an attendee at both the 2007 and 2008 Conferences in Las Vegas.
I am really looking forward to this one in Los Angeles. I am registered, my
plane ticket is paid for, and my room is reserved. You have some very
interesting speakers lined up, I see. And, I hope that D. Saari has the MC
microphone in his hand again this year. He was fantastic at that job. (don't
let him burn-out during this planning phase)

Sincerely,

Rosemary Vollmar

Alchemy - the Art and Science of Transformation

Practitioners will share both practical and spiritual
techniques in this intensive, multimedia and educational
event. The emphasis is on real alchemy, and the goal is to
inform and empower individuals with the ancient wisdom.
There will be lots of opportunities for informal meetings,
plus entertainment and other fun surprises.
__________________________________________
The Purpose of this gathering is multifold:

> To restore the Wisdom of the Alchemical Tradition to the
consciousness of the general public.
> To educate attendees in the true teachings of Alchemy and
the many ways in which it can be practically applied in
life, work, society, and the world at large for creating
transformation and evolution.
> To invoke the energy of World Transformation at a
Conscious and Intentional gathering of spiritual seekers,
healers, and teachers.
> To provide a forum for a "Meeting of the Masters",
where practicing Alchemists from many different traditions
and disciplines can come together in open dialogue with the
intention of fostering collaboration, synergy, and
synthesis.
> To revive the times, like those of Salomon's Temple,
Alexandria, Prague, and others when the ancient arts were
more openly discussed and practiced.
> To represent the many faces of Alchemy, thereby showing
its applicability, universality, and transformative power
that everyone can apply in their life according to their
personal resonance and chosen path.
> To continue this annual gathering that brings interested
people together each year as well as encourages people to
stay connected between conferences in various ways: small
local or regional group meetings, social networking
communications through Facebook and other online discussion
groups.

I have checked with the other members of the Planning Committee and the Holiday
Inn reservations staff.

We have not reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn for the conference.
Yet, when I call the hotel, they informed me they do not have any room
availability for the weekend of the Alchemy Conference due to a Ski Pro 2009
event booked for the LA Convention Center at that time.

The Planning Committee is reviewing hotels in the area to update the information
we have on the web site.

Thanks you for bringing this to our attention, Janet. I am confident we will be
able to identify alternatives.

Hi, everybody. Can it possibly be true that the Conference has blocked
the entire Holiday Inn at the L.A. Convention Center for itself?

I just checked the Holiday Inn Website and found that for Oct. 22
(Thursday) through Oct. 25 (Sunday), there is no availability.

Please advise soonest!

This is more of my evolving picture of the conference and a request for your
reactions and comments than an update.

It is less than 6 months before the conference and the gathering is beginning to
take on its own life and form. Unlike the first two in Las Vegas, the topics and
issues covered in the presentations and workshops is broader and more
representative of how alchemy is influencing our lives today. This is not to say
that the previous conferences were not exciting and worthwhile. After all they
included practicing alchemists sharing their laboratory methods and secrets as
well as a Hollywood celebrity doing research for his new movie involving
esoteric practices such as alchemy.

In Los Angeles, we will once again have alchemists sharing their practices and
procedures in workshops and the presentations will be even more representative
of all esoteric disciplines. Every workshop and presentation, however, will be
focused on transformation and transmutation.

Do you know the difference?

We are also expanding the vendor (exhibitor) area to include an even wider range
of services and products. I like this feature because even with the info
available on the Web, seeing the people responsible for creating the goods is
very helpful in deciding if it is of value to your needs and goals. There is a
large enough area at the LACC to include vendor spaces as well as a
global/ethnic-like bazaar of related items for sale. Any ideas or wishes for
what you'd like to see included? Let me know!

We're looking for sponsors to support the conference and its ongoing community.
Currently a publishing company that focuses on alchemical texts - Salamandar &
Sons as well as the New York Open Center have done so. Any ideas of companies or
people you believe would be interested? We are discussing a commission for
people who identify and work with conference sponsors. Fun and money combined.
Interested? Let me know.

What is an example of the conference's ongoing community you ask? Well, I'm glad
you asked. The most important feature from my perspective is an online group of
people and organizations interested in what alchemy is about and what it has to
offer about the questions and issues of our lives. There is information to share
and learning to experience between conferences. Yes, there will be a 2010
conference and more. But, don't you go to learn and meet interesting people.
Wouldn't you like to continue to stay in contact globally and locally with
people of similar interests? Many participants would and have asked for a way to
do this. We are discussing possibilities. Do you have requests or ideas for this
ongoing communication? Yes, you've heard it before...let me know :)

More to follow...

As you are probably aware, the "Contact Us" link in the middle of the conference
home page is still working and will get the same type of attention and care as
the "Contact" link at the bottom of the page that is not.

I've asked our technical person to look at the dead link. :)

Thanks,

Duane

Thank you for your comment, Teddy, and welcome to the Alchemy Conference
discussion forum.

Many of the comments have been and will continue to be about the upcoming
conference in October. As the number of forum members grow, our discussion will
include more than just the conference, who is speaking, what we'd like to see
take place and other important details.

My expectation is that since we are all interested in some aspect of alchemy and
transformative change, this will become the ongoing focus of our discussion.

I excited to be able to announce that William Henery, a well respected
mythologist has agreed to speak at the conference. He will bring a extensively
researched perspective to transformative change. You can learn more about
William at WilliamHenry.net.

A conference planning meeting is being held this afternoon and more news will be
posted over the next couple of days.

Hello and Blessings to all,

I just joined today as I'm really excited about practicing real alchemy. I've been doing some practical work, distiallations etc. and creating lesser spagyrics. At the end of May I'll be attending a two-day workshop in Joliet, Il just on creating spagyrics; if you're interested the link is www.light-healing.org. I really hope this is an active group and I intend to learn a lot from everyone here.

Thanks,

Hi all,

My name is Teddy Reuss, I found the group while do a search on yahoo groups under Alchemy. I haven't practiced the art for long, but I am learning everyday. Next month I'll be attending a two-day workshop in Joliet, IL. that sounds pretty freaking awesome (if you want to know more you can check it out at www.light-healing.org). So in the meantime I'm trying to keep my head full of alchemy. Hope everyone is doing well.

May we all find the stone!

Thanks for the follow up, Andrew. Based on your and Dennis Hauck's input, I will
check him out in more depth.

I'd be interested in what you would like to see at the conference this year
based on your attendance of the first two.

Care to share?

First, Dr. Hayton's breadth and depth in the history of science sounds like good
material. Covering Islamic astrology, patent medicines and medieval approaches
to plagues and comets sounds like he grapples with many of the same questions
our community tries to answer. One class actually drew parallels between modern
and pre-Renaissance political persecution by looking at alchemists.

Second, Alchemy thrives on an exchange of ideas. Academics can find a different
audience. Mystics can find a historical perspective. Both can find something
new and stimulating from each other. or just roll their eyes :)

I attended both and plan to attend all conventions.

Daylin is apparently a respected historian of science but I am not sure if he
has a positive opinion of alchemy or not - the only thing I could find is at
http://www.lecturelist.org/content/view_speaker/2423

Anybody know anymore on him?

Can you tell me a little more about Darin Hayton and why you believe he would
make a good speaker?

I'm also curious about you. Did you attend the 2007 or 2008 International
Alchemy Conferences? If so, I would appreciate your take on what they were like
and did you enjoy them?

I had invited Darin Hayton of Haverford College to participate last
year since he has written on alchemy from an intersting political
perspective.

www.haverford.edu/hist/faculty/hayton/teaching/tindex.html

I also sent feelers out into the Islamic scholars community through
my former professor Dr. Carl Ernst. He had mentioned that getting
buy-in from academic department for conferences in Vegas raises
eyebrows. Hopefully with the venue change we'll get a warmer
reception in academic circles.

Well change is happening all around us isn't it. Lot's of it and
that's why the theme of the conference is: Change through Alchemy: A
World of Transformation.

The conference will explore how alchemy and related practices can help
us identify what these changes are taking place today, how they impact
our personal lives, our work and the communities we live and interact
in, as well as how we can learn to use change to create the life we want.

Planning is being done by two organizations immersed in alchemy and
change: the International Alchemy Guild
(http://www.alchemyguild.org/index2.htm) and the
Rocky Mountain Mystery School (http://www.rmmsint.com/). Check them out.

Our conference web site: http://www.alchemyconference.com/ is
undergoing transformation. The links on the tool bar at the top and
bottom of the home page will still take you to pages about last year's
conference with the exception of Location. This link will show you the
conference site: the Los Angeles Convention Center. However, the other
information on the home page including the other links are up to date.
More information about the web page later this week.

Three stimulating keynote speakers have been confirmed. Dr. Masaru
Emoto, Gudni Gudnason and Dennis William Hauck. You can learn more
about them by doing a web search using their names. And, more keynotes
are being considered. About two dozen or more presenters and workshops
from several approaches are being identified as well. Check out the
What is Alchemy link on the conference home page to see some of the
modern applications of alchemy we want to include in this conference.

One more thing. This year we are expanding the number and types of
vendors and exhibitors to reflect the expansion of our theme. We are
also looking for individual and organizational sponsors of the
conference who want to partner with us to grow our community of change
and transformation. Are you one? Know any?

Questions? Comments? I would like to hear from you.

Duane

The goal for this forum is to create a two way discussion of
everything about the conference including its planning, what the
experience of the gathering might feel and look like as well as the
possibility of continuing the dialogue after it comes to a close.

I intend to give you as much information about the conference as soon
as possible and hope to hear from you about what you want to know.

So let the questions and comments flow.

Thanks for these suggestions, Paul.

We are reviewing a lot of names and these will be included. If we need
more information about any of these people, one of the planning group
members will contact you directly.

And, welcome to the forum. Please don't be a stranger to the ongoing

My name is Duane Saari and I will be moderating this forum about all
things related to the Third International Alchemy Conference that will
take place in Los Angeles in October of this year.

First, a big thanks to Andrea Zuchavich who started the forum and will
continue as co-moderator.

Next, let me tell you a little bit about me so you know who you're
interacting with. I've studied alchemy for over twenty years, four of
those with Dennis Hauck, and while I consider myself an alchemy adept,
I continue the Great Work to create my personal Philosopher's Stone.
This will be my third alchemy conference after attending the first in
2007 and presenting as well as taking on the role of MC last year.
This year, I am on the planning committee and will be presenting once
more. Some who are already members of this forum or will join us, as
well as other presenters and participants at the conference, know more
about the Art than me. But I dare say none would enjoy moderating our
discussion than me so let's explore our upcoming gathering of
alchemists, students of the Art, practitioners in related fields and
those interested in learning more together in this continuing discussion.

Much more information to follow, but let me know what your questions
about the 2009 conference are and, if you attended one of the previous
conferences as a speaker, vendor or participant what you thought about
it and what you liked or did not about these gatherings.

In the Work,

Duane
