Hi,
Whilst I have not seen specific documentary evidence it is my
understanding that both of these criteria are acceptable. The member
is one of longstanding and has shown himself to be careful in legal
and financial matters.
Is there still an Alcor UK suspension team? ACTs? If so who is in
charge? Is there still equipment over here? If so, what and where? Who
does one contact about signing up and suspensions?

There are two important questions that need answering to see if this person can be helped with cryonics. As a "last minute" non-domestic case - which is always the most difficult for fledging cryonics organisations do deal with.
a) Does the person have anywhere like $100k in cash to pay for the procedure?
b) Is the person of sound mind able to sign all the paperwork and does not have relatives which will disrupt the process?
This is the unfortunate reality of this type of situation.... :-(

He was kindly referred on to me by the contact he was given by Alcor central. (Oddly enough the contact is not an Alcor member but luckily was able to put the member in touch with me). I am still a member of Alcor but haven't been involved in any day to day activities for some years. Consequently I have done quite a lot of phoning round this morning, but my phone book may be a little out of date.

This morning I received a phone call from a long time Alcor member who
has a close relative who is very ill, whom he is trying to get signed
up and into suspension.
He was kindly referred on to me by the contact he was given by Alcor
central. (Oddly enough the contact is not an Alcor member but luckily
was able to put the member in touch with me). I am still a member of
Alcor but haven't been involved in any day to day activities for some
years. Consequently I have done quite a lot of phoning round this
morning, but my phone book may be a little out of date.
Please could anyone connected with Alcor UK or who can help or offer

Nine key questions about the coming Technological Singularity
The next ExtroBritannia event is scheduled for Saturday September the
20th 2008; 2:00pm - 4:00pm. Venue: Room 539, 5th floor (via main
lift), Birkbeck College, Torrington Square, London WC1E 7HX. The event
is free and everyone's welcome.
Vernor Vinge wrote the following words in 1993, introducing the
concept of the Singularity:
"Within thirty years, we will have the technological means to create
superhuman intelligence. Shortly after, the human era will be ended".
This UKTA meeting will be a group discussion, led by David Wood, on
the following nine key questions:
1. Defining what we're talking about: What's the relation between the
various different notions of the Singularity?
2. Are there arguments in principle against the Singularity?
3. What are the lessons we should learn from what's been called "the
embarrassing history of AI"?
4. Is the Singularity a plausible occurrence within (say) the next 50
years?
5. What are the critical bottleneck determinants of development
towards the Singularity?
6. What's the likeliest timescale for the Singularity?
7. Should we be doing everything in our power to prevent the
Singularity from happening?
8. Can we influence the Singularity to make its outcome more likely to
be good for humanity rather than disastrous?
9. What are the biggest uncertainties with the Singularity?
There is no charge to attend and everyone is welcome. Join the debate!
Venue:
Room 539, 5th floor (via main lift), Birkbeck College, Torrington
Square (which is a pedestrian-only square). Torrington Square is about
10 minutes walk from either Russell Square or Goodge St tube stations.

Discussion is likely to continue after the event at "The Friend at
Hand", nearby. There's also the option of joining some of the UKTA
regulars for drinks/lunch beforehand, starting c. 12.30, in "The
Friend At Hand" pub which is situated behind Russell Square tube
station on Herbrand Street. There's also the option of joining some of

Bear in mind though, it's Kajal today but it will be someone else tomorrow, so setting up individual rules for each spammer could get tedious
Getting your spam filters working e.g. Keir.net seems better
We should proceed with getting the moderation set up and or access rights to the group changed as well so that ability to post freely occurs only after a sandbox period (as has been suggested)
(At the moment I am seeking the password from the founder so one of us can alter these things).
Together all these things should work.
We can discuss migration to another software platform if they do not.

Just make a Rule under Tools or Messages to move Kajal Sinha or that email-address to a Folder named Spam. Works in Outlook Express.
Otherwise I use a free Spamfilter from Keir.net as cant solve above.
I feel exactly the same way you do and sympathise with the thought of a satisfying stampede to the exit.
But wait! before you go, please consider this.
Are you really going to be chased away from a forum that was of sufficient interest to you that you actually expended energy to join it in the first place?
and all because of a spammer and a relatively small number of spam emails?
If you do so, you will lose contact with an information source (intermittent as it is) that is of vital importance, and COULD some day play a very key part in your survival
Even though our group is not one dealing with trivia (being medical / patient advocacy related), please do note, these spam messages have been going to a fair number of other groups and no one else in those has managed to stop them.
Meaning we are no less 'on the ball' in this matter than they are (even though we should be, agreed)
Messages to the moderators' / admin of this group have not been ignored, as there are no moderators' currently (it was moderated in the past but delays in letting messages through caused it to be unmoderated).
The person we need to get in contact with is alcor-uk-owner@yahoogroups.com to give the moderators permission to take on that role.
It has been suggested that we need 3 volunteers to moderate. I will be one of those if there is one more.
For the moment if one of the options settings for the our group that says "membership does not require approval" could be changed too "does require approval" and 'kajal' is blocked via the "all members may post messages" option, this would be adequate.
Whatever else happens the yahoo spam people know about this now and should be acting in the next 48 hours whatever else we do.
So don't be a victim of a spammer and hang on in there for at least this much longer to see what happens.
My filter cant sort it out so how can it be solved. Mailinglists and usenet are old fashion, moderated are to slow, are they spamming unmoderated blogs also?
Google-filters may be better than Yahoo, does anyone gets spam in Google-mail?

Can someone with the yahoo authorisation to do so take a break from building up the science and practice of human cryopreservation medical practice in the real world and block this individual?

Unless an admin block these spam messages I shall be unsubscribing shortly -- as I suspect a lot of others have already done.
What hope is there that an organisation can suspend you when they can't even block a spammer?
It's a terrible advert!
